I enjoy playoff Hockey. Always have, pretty much the only time I care. Thus the NHL needs to try and capture this atmosphere a bit better.

1. Shorten the regular season a bit. 60 games and try and finish in January.
2. Expand the playoffs by another 5 teams and give divsion winners a buy. 16 of 30 teams is already too much and it allows teams to sandbag all year and then have a playoff rush, while the teams who worked hard all year get home ice, but thats it.
3. Balance out some of the playoff games with the bottom 8 teams play a mini tourney for one of them to get into the playoffs. yes, techinically it gives everyone a playoff shot, but if your team can last that many more games, Kudos.

Simply put, playoff hockey is what is going to SELL This sport to the Networks and make HUGE money, Phoenix v Florida on a Sunday night in February is not! That much I am 100% sure of.

If you expand the playoffs, they lose some of their meaning. Over half the teams in the league make it already.

You basically get the same amount of hockey, but the top teams get a little more of a reward and play a little less at the start.

do you realize how fucking close all the teams are? sure you get a few teams over the 100 point mark, but after that, unless your fucking inept at hockey like edmonten you're in contention. You need all the fucking games you can get to somewhat seperate everyone... eliminate that OT point system and see where the chips fall is what I would recomend... you extended the game 5 minuets, congradulations fucktard, you still lost, why the fuck do you deserve an extra point?
