I expect that The NHL is going to do something really bad with the Winter Classic. They are calling for warm weather in Pittsburgh tomorrow and there are rumors that they may move the game to Sunday or later in the year in order to ensure the ice safety. NBC wont be happy either way. |

Your right Vince, NBC wouldn't be happy, if they can't play tommorow and it's gets played in January, both teams do have some Sundays off, but your against playoff football. If your NBC, you want the game tommorow, CBS loses the Gator Bowl and where I live, they are just showing paid programming all day, ABC has the Outback Bowl. NBC would rather go against that for the people who don't have cable. I hope it gets played tommorow, but they do have a window to about 8 eastern. |

The NHL is still planning to play the "Winter Classic" tomorrow between the Capitals & Penguins despite 50 degree temperatures and a lot of rain forecast for Pittsburgh's Heinz Field. They're going to drop the puck just after 7p (CT) tomorrow night when temperatures are supposed to drop just like here... |

I think this is better for NBC and the NHL, only going against the Fiesta Bowl and the Fiesta could be a rough watch if OU dominates like they can, and more people get NBC than ESPN, and it could be better at night. |

Much better decision. By evening, the bowl games have died down and they will have almost the only sports eyes. |

This is quickly losing it's luster. It was cool when it's in a historical venue or when it first started but am I expected to be excited when they play a game in an average NFL stadium or the second best MLB stadium in New York? This needs to leave New Year's Day. Even the Big Ten bloodbath was more interesting than this game. |

Denver is also being considered. San Jose wants some action as well. Finally, Jerry Jones has expressed interest. This is a big revenue maker for the NHL. i think it is here to stay and I like it a lot better than most of the terrible bowls I watched this year. |

They could easily have a rink in Cowboy Stadium it is indoors. Plus Jerry Jones can make anything happen.. The Bay in Jan. gets as cold as Pittsburgh was last night. Also, keep in mind, the NHL played a pre-season game in 80 degree weather outside at Caesars Palace. |

Not to even mention that the STARS! can't even get people to fill 20,000 seats when they're good, what would make him think that 100,000 would show up? |

While it might not be huge in the States - they really need to do a Montreal/Toronto one. |

There was talk about the old Yankee Stadium hosting one of these "Winter Classic" games, but there were logistical issues and it never came to fruition. Plus, I remember Blackhawks' President John McDonough lobbied hard to get Wrigley Field to host one of these unique games. That being said, it was hard to watch Saturday night's "Winter Classic", won by the Capitals 3-1 over the Penguins at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field. While the two teams got the game in, there were noticeable puddles on the ice surface that made it kinda hard. I think the NHL needs to consider other venues to host a game like this. I could bet you any amount of money that an Avalanche/Red Wings' game at Denver's Coors Field would be just what the doctor ordered and quite the tough ticket if it became a reality. |

Boilermaker Rick, the problem with your thought is that, I heard people say that this is now the big event on New Year's Day and passing the college football. I did hear Yankee Stadium in year's past, the Pinstripe Bowl probably ended that, I think the Red Wings-Avalanche at Coors Field would be intresting. Now, if the Penguins or Capitals make the Stanley Cup Finals this year, every team will ask to play this game, because the last 3, 1 of the teams has made the finals, but have all lost. |

Montreal's CFL stadium is outdoors. So is the CFL stadium in Edmonton. Personally, I think a Toronto at Montreal game would be outstanding...if not Toronto, then Boston. |

Winter Classic = 4.5 million viewers ,most watched NHL game since 1975. Fiesta Bowl = 10.8 million viewers Football > Hockey. Hell, it blows away baseball in the ratings too. The question is are the 4.5 million viewers > than anything else NBC could put on T.V. ? |

Guys, I think those shows NBC had scheduled before being pre-empted for live coverage of the "Winter Classic" were reruns. The networks haven't really thought much of Saturday night TV for many, many years. Many shows have ended up dying on what is considered the worst night of the week in prime time. |
