Favorite time of the year, World Junior Championships! See tomorrow's superstars today!

USA favored to contend for the Gold behind Jack Eichel, the future #2 pick in the 2015 NHL draft. #2 may not sounds impressive, but he's the highest regarded #2 since Malkin went #2 to Ovechkin. The reason is because the guy going #1, Connor McDavid, is the most hyped prospect since Crosby. He's also in the tournament, playing for Canada.

USA vs defending champs Finland starts at 2 today on NHL network!

So how did it go?

USA squeaked by the defending champs in a shootout after a 1-1 tie through regulation and OT. Eichel looked like a stud out there although he tried to do too much on his own. Hopefully the team will settle down and put some pucks in the net Sunday vs an easier opponent.

Canada smoked Slovakia 8-0. McDavid was somehow invisible that game.

Russia needed a late goal to force OT vs Denmark. Russia eventually won in a shootout.

Sweden won their game easily, forgot who they played.

More great games today!

I like knowing how our prospects do in these things but I don't exactly get up for them.

Sounds like John Hayden had a good game. I'm excited for what he might bring to the Hawks.

Could be a top 5 pick in 2016.

Lots of great players starting to come out of sun belt states. A couple years ago two players from California were drafted in the first round. Seth Jones, Popeye's kid, was a top 5 pick who spent most of his youth in Dallas.

Nice 6-0 win for USA over the Nazis last night. Jack Eichel continues to look like a generational talent. Slovakia today and then the big one New Years Eve (afternoon) vs Canada!
