Rather than being bought out, Mike Richards just had the rest of his contract cancelled for a "material breach." You sly dogs, LA Kings, now you've done it. Let's figure out a way to terminate Bickell.

I can't wait to find out what he supposedly did and then the ensuing NHLPA lawsuit.

This will have to take some time to play out. They will have to prove the breach I assume. Lawyers and such will fight it I assume. If this stands it is open season on releasing guys from contracts.

Well, it's Mike Richards, so I'm sure it involves cocaine in some way, possibly a rousing game of Hide The Wang In A Sixteen-Year-Old.

Can't see how Kings win this.

That the NHL gave them approval to do something this rash means they kinda already did.

But hey, now we know if Crawford gets drunk and falls down the stairs again, we can call it a material breach and nuke the rest of his albatross contract.

Various media members are vouching for the enormity of whatever Richards did but not saying anything specific. God, what a bunch of Bernsteins.

EDIT: Sounds like he got busted at the border for possession. Hey, just like Probie!

While the NHL on NBC Sports analyst didn’t get into the hard details on TSN 690’s Melnick in the Afternoon show in Montreal, McGuire indicated the incident that led to the Kingss decision happened at a border crossing. Here is the link and we’ve displayed the transcript below. The segment starts at around the 9:17 mark.

Melnick: “Somebody in the know is telling me something happened with Mike Richards at a border crossing.”

Pierre: “Correct … I’m not going to talk about it until it’s made public. I have a pretty good idea of what’s happened.”

Melnick: “So the information I have, you can confirm that?”

Pierre: “Your information is probably pretty accurate.”

WTF is wrong with journalists these days? Everything is innuendo, back slapping and snickers. Won't it be made public once you say it?!?!?!?!?

TMZ is reporting that Mike Richards' border crossing incident involved him carrying oxycodone. http://www.tmz.com/2015/06/30/nhls-mike ... an-border/

Still fail to see how the Kings win this.
