Why are they skipping the 5 minute 4 on 4? Kind of crazy to just go to 3 on 3 right out of the gate.

Hows about an overtime faceoff where the puck is laid at the red line on the Road defensive zone and one player from each team races down ice at it allowing full contact.

They should also add land mines on the ice like those Mutant League games back during Sega.

I do like that suggestion. I hate that someone can goon it up in the final seconds of overtime with no repercussions.

Need to find my source but the league wanted to do the AHL procedure from this year, 4 minutes of 4-4 then 3 of 3-3 and the NHLPA wouldn't bite.

Playoff hockey is about the best thing in sports as it is. This is all about reducing the number of shootouts.

It's going to end up being even more conservative than 4-on-4 was. More margin for error will mean players being overcoached into oblivion.

But also a lot more open ice/room for error/creativity.

You can't have both ways, either more shootouts or more games decided on the ice without completely destroying players/teams.

You do realize these guys play back-to-back nights multiple times throughout the year? Or they play 3 games in 5 nights, like, a lot?
