3 out of 4 could make it out of group stage. That's shocking.

Germany vs Ghana has been the best game of the World Cup so far. There was even blood!

American approved

A Germany win or loss might've been better for the U.S.

A loss, because the U.S. could clinch with a win or tie tomorrow. A win for Germany today and the Germanys likely lay back on Thursday against the U.S.

Don't think so. I'm pretty sure Ghana getting 3 points would of been the worst possible outcome for USA.

Man Bosnia getting screwed so far. Had a beautiful goal taken away from them on a bogus offsides call and Nigerias goal could have easily been a foul.

If the USMNT could put the ball on goal, they'd be up in this game. Shooting anywhere but between the pipes.

Michael Bradley is a piece of shit and that tying goal was 100% his lazy ass fault. What a useless Caller Bob. Giving the ball away with no resistance when all he had to do was pass it to a teammate or even just kick it deep, turns it over and Portugal goes down and scores.

He was horrible vs Ghana and he just blew the game vs Portugal. Not to mention missing the wide open net earlier in the game.

He should go play for whatever shit hole country his dad is coaching these days.

the annoying thing is that ronaldo was a non factor pretty much until that last goddamn 30 seconds. but that cross was indeed world class.

bradley made a terrible mistake in that moment but he was actually pretty good overall yesterday. much better than he was against ghana.

still, if you wanna prove you're with the big boys, then do it against germany. it just sucks that we had that win and then let it go so quickly. i had a feeling that would happen...

Bradley was better but was still awful. Forward play just dies when he gets the ball. He's in there to be a facilitating linkup player. Jermaine Jones has been better doing that and he's a fucking goon. About three years ago, when Bradley was playing regularly in Italy, I considered him the best American player and a future team captain.

tie breakers.... if ghana wins by 1 and the US loses by 1.... both have 4 points and the same goal differential.... what's the next tie breaker?

edit, the interwebz found this out:

http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2014/6/2 ... ny-group-g

ironically head to head is the 4th tiebreaker (points, goal differential, goals scored, head to head).

Saw a replay of the foul. Can't tell if the guy was taken down or tripped himself. Regardless, that was a much more heartbreaking loss than USA's choke job on Sunday. At least the USA has a chance to redeem themselves. Ivory Coast gets to go home.

It seems like every one is now agreeing it was a clear penalty. Ehhhhhhh. I get why people say it is. Looked like he hammed it up.

Hammed it up? When you were a kid did you ever kick someone's back leg into their other leg or have it done to you? Its literally impossible not to get tripped up and fall down when that happens.

Obvious penalty, no question about it. I doubt there was intent to even make contact, but once contact was made the result was inevitable.

So how long will Suarez be banned? Any guesses. I assume he'll be out the rest of the tournament, but with FIFA you never know.

I can and can't believe what an idiot he is. These last two games are pretty much a perfect microcosm of Luis Suarez. First you have the England game where he came back after not playing for a month and scored a brace to beat England which showed how he is one of the best players in teh world and then the very next game you have the biting incident out of nowhere which shows what an absolute idiot and disgrace to the game he is. Pretty much the two absolutes that you have a chance of seeing every time he takes the pitch.

Between beating England and then this I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool dumps him out of the EPL. Actually just the beating England part might've gotten him moved out of Liverpool as ridiculous as that sounds to us USA sports fans.

He's not right in the head. I also find the dramatics of guys faking injury every time somebody bumps them to be ridiculous. That shit don't fly in the states.

I think you should be banned longer for diving than biting a guy. You bite a guy you're only hurting your own team (well the guy you bit probably too) if the ref sees it and you get carded. It's not like you get an advantage from it. In diving in the box you're directly trying to impact the outcome of the game through simulation. Maybe one in a million times the ref cards you for diving, but really there isn't much of a downside to doing it and it seems more often than not you win a penalty unfairly.

Diving can actually be punished by red card for unsportsmanlike conduct. It just never is.

I don't agree with this, but I do agree that the diving needs to be punished more. The solution seems so simple to me. Allow for in game video review that can go on while the game is in play. Ref gets a call from the press box alerting him that so and so dove and to give that player a card, either red or yellow. Only issue I see is what do you do if in the meantime that player scores? I guess you could also have post game review and suspensions/bans can be given to players for future games based on diving. That would work well in tournaments, but wouldn't address any ill gotten benefits the diving player received during the game he dove in.

Video review for all penalties would be a good idea as well. That way they can stop a bad penalty from being taken.
