And Germany finally beats Italy.

That was one of the more entertaining penalty shootouts I can recall. And that's even with the poor shots taken.

Sebastian Giovinco is the reigning MVP in MLS plying his trade for Toronto FC.

And we just need new ownership for the Fire and for them to buy the "Sting" name so as to re-brand futbol in Chicago. Then we'll be cooking with gas.

I hope for a Wales-France final. The dragon and the cock. Portugal are so dull to watch and I'm sick of Germany. It's approaching Spain 2008-12 levels of annoyance. I don't think France has the back line to contain the German attack and I think Portugal will beat Wales in penalties. Germany 3-0 in the final.

Is this the de facto championship today?

hey you never know, they could refball the hell out of the final to try and make CR7's star grow even bigger what with the big ol euro soccer push in america these days.

with this one germany utterly dominates the first half but france manages to get germany to have an unclutch handball in the waning seconds of first half stoppage time to hand france a 1-0 lead. it was funny to watch giroud have a breakaway that was inherently giroud.

Has Wenger said how close he was to signing Griezmann?

Wonder if this was Löw's last tournament. 10 years is a long time for a national team coach.

I find it funny the Macmanaman criticism of Portugal winning the tournament by playing "negative" football or stumbling thru the tournament. He would sacrifice his balls to see his precious England win any type of title, I don't think he would care if they stumbled thru the tournament.

I thought France was a lock to win after they disposed of Germany, then you add Portugal losing their best player early in the game, I give credit to Portugal. Portugal played disciplined, something they lacked in previous tournaments like the last World Cup. Rather win ugly then lose pretty.

I wouldn't criticize their style of play today but I do think there is something to be said about the expanded tournament and the weak bracket on Portugal's side compared to France's. I like seeing the smaller teams in the tournament but I think the overall quality of play was poor. Very boring tournament in general. And they want to add more teams!

yeah ziz, joachim low will cosign your thoughts on the 24-team euro tournament being < than the "Traditional"(?) 16 team euro tournament cuz the competition gets watered down.

that said, man, i was really devastated to see CR7 go down/out so early cuz obviously i wanted to see the best game possible.... and coming in i thought ronaldo had to score 2/+ goals in order to get the 3 goals that portugal would need to win this game..... but i think the problem actually was that once CR7 went down and the game went on longer and longer withaout france scoring, all the pressure in the world built up on them cuz they HAVE TO beat a portugal team without CR7, right? i mean it's not necessarily as drastic as, say, a wales team without bayol, but still.... man, they went from ~79% favorites (per ESPN's "Soccer Power Index") to what i figure had to be 90%+ once CR7 went out, and that ended up working against france in the end. c'est la vie, no?

btw you can take it from an arsenal fan that when teams have this pressure on them like OMFG DUDE YOU ARE TOTALLY 100% SUPPOSED TO WIN THIS MATCH!!! it can become some kind of huge problem for a team that is prone to fits of mental midgetude. and hey, you know france DID have 3/11 in their starting XI with #ArsenalDNA (sagna, koscielny, giroud) so yeah.... i'm not sayin #ImJustSayin.........................#Rosemont

I think big Ron is a douche but I felt bad he had to be carted off. I'll accept Portugal winning but Ronaldo not being on the field for it. I hope they drop the trophy on Pepe and break his fucking legs though.
