Here is hoping we get some exciting ties and maybe a shootout! Lets prepare to be thoroughly confused and annoyed by the rules on offsides! Lets be happy that the United States is finally in a venue where WE are one of the least racist countries! I think they play next week or something, if the team isn't gunned down by the violent gangs that roam the streets right outside the stadiums and the intense riots and police clashes going on right now! Just don't call it football. We invented a much better version of football. This is soccer, and for 2 weeks every 4 years, it deserves to be paid attention to. The timing will work out well with this ending and training camp being just around the corner! |

The best part is not knowing how much time is left in the match. |

If I had HDTV I'd probably watch for awhile ... and immediately forget what I'd seen shortly thereafter, and be thankful for it. |

The big issue with this team was how they chose not to include Ray Donovan. It may prove to be a mistake. |

In When do we start blowing things up? I'll say it here as it is the most well hidden place on the board, hockey might just be better than basketball. |

The last two posts are like Vito getting caught at the gay bar on Sopranos Does the extreme racism occur in the World Cup? I never seem to hear about it during the Cup, but it comes up a few times a year in the other leagues |

Is bannana throwing still a "thing" or are we pretending that it has nothing to do with race? I don't want to embarrass myself... |

Why is the World Cup trophy not a cup? (I'm not trying be a comedian. Soccer peeps help me here). Google offered no answers. This is not a cup. It is a club. |

The racist chants and throwing of bananas is something you'd see at the club level, usually in Spain, Italy, Russia, or Turkey. The crowds at the WC are sanitized. |

Fuck, is this sport painfully boring. I suppose it is fine in locales that only provide severed heads of political opponents to children for recreation but what self respecting industrialized country would settle for this as its national sport? |

Goddamn. You would think with all the bribery and slush funds they would save some from lining their own pockets to buy a trophy fitting a sport that 80% of the world cares about. I think I got soccer participation trophies that were more impressive than the original cup. Make the thing fucking majestic. |

Two goals disallowed by offsides. Thats the equivalent of like 8 touchdowns being disallowed by penalty. |
