I am still waiting to see who the prospects are.

The only part of this story that I do not like is this "The Cubs felt it was necessary to make this move because of payroll constraints"

Makes the rotation very right handed.

Maybe one of the prospects is Strasburg.

Correct

Gorz. has hinted at some dissatisfaction lately with his role on the team, his chances of making the team, etc...

days later he is run out of town

what a fuckin asshole...one word that rubs him the wrong way and he's gotta react

Bully reads the papers too much and doesnt interface with his players man-to-man, unless they are part of the big boys club

fuck that fat fuck

Everyday I hope that Whistler will admit it's all a bit.

Good trade. Burgess is a solid OF prospect. Gorz is a borderline 4/5 starter and this hopefully will allow Cashner to make the rotation.

Burgess looks to be a former sandwich round pick for the Nats straight out of high school. He seems to have made the all star team at ever level so far. His stats look encouraging, except the K's are high. He got invited to the Arizona Fall League this year which is always a good sign. He should start out the year in TN, with an outside change at Iowa.

He's described to have a "Kirby Puckett' like body. Hopefully a early 90's Kirby and not early 2000's....

Seems solid to me, if you can get anything that might work out in the future for a current 4/5 starter that you do not really need then it is a plus.

It says he is 5'11 195 but he looks closer to 215

That was from 2007.

This is from this years fall league where he seems to be in much better shape.

Definitely sounds like he'll start the year in Tennessee.

In hopes of making Whistler's head explode, I think Hendry is having a pretty decent winter.

They gave up 3 shit prospects to get him so even if these guys flame out it will be a wash. I wonder if they should have hung onto Gorzo and traded Wells instead.

Seems like they should have got more for Gorz. plus now they have no left handed starter. I know they needed to move his salary, but pending the 3rd prospect, doesn't seem like much for a LH reasonably priced starter with decent numbers. I hope Wilkens had input on the prospects. Neither of the 2 were Top 10.

I dont have a problem with Gorz' departure...i never liked him or Grabow...2 retreads who never should have been here in the first place

what i am tired of is how predictable Hendry is at running a guy out of town if he even hints at some displeasure

the 3 prospects suck...that fatty reminds me of someone we had in the past...maybe a poor man's mark bellhorn, or willie greene

I thought Gorzo pitched some good games. LH starters don't grow on trees. Hendry should have received more in return.

During an interview at the convention Wells compared himself to Rick Vaugn in major league 2....saying he was focused on the wrong things....but he is back on track now.

The 3rd prospect has lousy stats. They should have gotten more. Typical Ricketts dumping salary. Welcome to present day Cubs baseball.

Morris looks to be a 4 year college player who is very average right now at a low level. Hicks is a young, tall and lanky lefthander. My only concern with him is that in his picture he is sporting a dirt stache.

BP has Burgess as a 3 star prospect (7th in the organIzation), Morris as a 1 star prospect (17th) and Hicks wasn't listed in the top 20. Not an awful trade but I think Hendry traded the wrong guy.

Interesting article about Tom. Seems more and more like a guy that isn't going to put it all together. I think the Cubs can count on Wells moreso than Gorz.

In other exciting news, when Quade was asked if Cashner was going to be in the rotation he responded YES! until he backed it off saying he'd have to compete.

Loving Quade more and more everyday

Why does Ranger keep reporting that Tom G has signed if he was traded to the Nationals yesterday? :?:

He was arbitration eligible.

Welcome to baseball.

I have no idea what that means, but thanks for the warm welcome.

Armando Gallaraga was just designated for assignment. He could step right into contention for the 5th spot with only a minor league contract and a non roster invite.
