Not suprising. Well deserved.

The Bulls first All Star game starter since the 90's.

The program is going in the right direction.

And to celebrate his selection, D Rose ate some spicy food and got another stomach ulcer.

Stomach ulcers at that age....crazy.

When did they make that argument? I doubt they were saying that stuff right now in the present. When Rose was a rookie and Nash was a few years younger, I would have agreed with that argument. Nash is 36 (will be 37 next week), and his best days are long behind him.

At the end of last season Goff asked danny who he would take, Nash or Rose. It really was like asking if you'd rather have $100 or $1000. There's only one answer. But danny couldn't do that. He had to ask stupid questions like, for one game or the rest of their careers? The answer was the same. Rose for his career. Rose for a season. Rose for a game. Rose for two minutes.

When I expressed such an opinion- one that has more than obviously proven to be correct- I was ridiculed and accused of failing to make sense.

Here's a sample of the nonsense posted in that thread:

Wasn't Bernstein arguing last year that Rose would never be a top 10 player? Now he thinks Rose is a top 3 player who deserves the MVP.

I don't recall him saying he would never be a top 10 player, but I know he did not think he would develop this good this quickly.

If that's true, would it be better for a host to recognize an error and change his opinion or just stick to the bad opinion for no good reason?

Oh, he recognizes his errors pretty frequently. He just doesn't acknowledge them for the most part.

And you need that? I mean, that is what you are looking for in a radio host/show?

Serious question...

I'm pretty sure Bernstein didn't say Derrick would never be a top-ten player. Bernstein's been very high on Rose since his rookie year.

I believe his argument was that he wasn't inspired by Derrick's progression as a defender and that in order to be an elite player he'd have to improve that aspect of his game (and his outside shooting). I don't even think "top-ten" was ever broached, as Rose has already arguably been a "top-ten" player for the last two years.

Is changing your position really a denial?

I don't find it necessary for a host to take time out of the show and say "I was wrong about ____, now I believe ____" only that they can admit the truth when it's apparent to everyone. I absolutely hate when a host continues a dumb thought simple because he's a guy that sticks to his guns, however...

It wouldn't bother me at all if he didn't fancy himself as an NBA expert. But instead of having normal conversations when he disagrees with callers, he speaks authoritatively and calls people "basketball retarded". "You're basketball retarded if you wouldn't trade Noah for Anthny right now." Well, I've watched plenty of hoops and I'm pretty sure I'm not retarded in any way and I wouldn't make that deal.

For awhile the big B&b thing was "you can't win when your best player is a point guard". Logic suggests that means you can't win with Rose as your best player. Although it hasn't happened yet, it's become pretty obvious that a team can win with Rose as its best player. So you don't hear that dumb basketball thought from B&B anymore.

Anyone can see Jordan's career and call him great. If you're going to be an expert I want you to tell me what a guy is going to be beforehand. danny missed the mark with Rose. At the beginning of this season he said "Rose will get some MVP votes", as if he was telling you something. When a caller dared suggest he could win, well, "basketball retardation" was invoked. Now Rose is, at the very least, one of the favorites.

Rose is a special player. He's greatly talented but he also has that intangible quality that guys like Jordan or Bill Russell had and guys like LeBron and Chamberlain lack(ed). Rose cares about winning. For most guys a huge salary, free drinks, and lots of pussy is enough. Hell, it would be enough for me. danny can't admit that because he refuses to acknowledge that intangible qualities exist or are important.

I'm pretty sure Dan Bernstein said that The Bulls could never win a championship with Derrick Rose as their top guy.

And they did cool off on Rose last year in general.

Kid, I love you man, but you have very selective memory when it comes to Dan Bernstein, and B&B in general.

You both are right, different shows. He also had a show where he went more in depth about Rose not being the man because as a point guard dedicated to his craft as Rose has been, he cannot be the superstar. Berns has also stated that Rose cannot be the ONLY star on the team. Depending on which show each of us heard, the statements have been made...not sure about JORR's though

When he gets called on his mistakes, he frequently denies them--or conveniently "forgets" them, at least.

Saw this breakdown from Sam Smith after the W over the Pacers. Looking forward to this next Clippers game.

Here’s a little thing, but what makes Rose the special kind of player.

The Bulls open a tough February Wednesday in Los Angeles against the Clippers.

The Bulls played the Clippers in the United Center Dec. 18 and lost when Rose had a chance to tie the game in regulation, but missed the second of two free throws. Free throwing had been something of an Achilles for the team. Rose didn’t say much. He just went to work.

Going into that game, Rose was shooting 76.1 percent on free throws and the team 70.2 percent.

Since that game, Rose has shot 86 percent on free throws and is now 82.6 percent for the season. Rose is 94 percent for the last five games and 92 percent the last 11 games. The team is 78 percent since that Clippers game, a respectable average that no longer costs games, to raise the overall season average to almost 73 percent.

That’s a big element of leadership. It is defined in many ways, but Rose exemplifies it for this Bulls team, though hardly only in his scoring or highlight plays. It’s in the toughness to battle through the odds, in the work ethic to constantly improve and do what’s necessary. And as Rose goes so goes everyone else. How can you not if you have any pride and competitiveness at all. And this group of Bulls players seems to.

No big deal. No need to broadcast it. Just do it!
