On the 30 minute drive to work this morning, I was treated to nonstop Federer and Tiger talk; I even got Dickie V's "insight" on their greatness. Hey guys, you are in MIAMI for the SUPER BOWL. How about let's talk football?

It's funny. Nobody in America gives a shit about tennis. Nobody. Yet ESPN shoves it down are throat like it's important. They are supposed to reflect people's interest. But not in this case.

It seems to be an east coast thing. The world stops at ESPN when there's a tennis tournament. Listen to the scoreboard updates- they are always giving the tennis scores. I don't know a single person who follows the sport. Just another example of how out of touch ESPN radio is with the rest of the country.

ah'm...I do.

But I completely understand the argument. I'm fine with just going on my yahoo and keeping up. I don't need Mike & Mike talking about it, especially because I don't think even ESPN people like talking about it...nor do I think they know much about the sport anymore. The only names you hear are Roger Federer and Andy Roddick (no one mentions the women, who are by far more entertaining to watch); no mentions of up and comers like Gael Monfils, Andy Murray, and Nadal. No mentions of Amelie Mauresmo, or Henin-Hardenne.

I'd sooner watch tennis than golf, but I would have to be very bored to watch either.

I personally don't mind the diversion from the football talk. What more can be said about the game that hasn't already been said and they are still going to say it anyways for the next five days. I don't watch tennis, but I do enjoy watching the PGA tour and have been doing so for many years. Tiger is dominating the sport like no one else has and if you don't want to watch it then you are missing out on history.

Isn't Greenberg a huge tennis fan? He's always bringing tennis into conversations.

Dan Davis and Greenberg are both big tennis fans - that's why you hear it so much during updates and on M&M.

I don't follow tennis, but what Federer is doing is impressive - he won a major tournament without losing a set. It may not appeal to the world at large, but it is still worth ten or fifteen minutes. Besides, its not like they completely abandoned football talk or anything else.

Maybe this is why the Duke is such a big tennis fan

how ghey was that track suit (velvet?) that Greenberg was wearing earlier this week? he had the thing zipped all the way up to his neck and the collar was up high. trying way too hard for some kind of look. well it wasd a bad one, because when they came back from break he had it zipped down and looked a little better.

It was, by south Florida standards, "cold" early in the week. It was so funny how ESPN had those guys broadcasting outside at 6 am, thinking it would be 60 degrees out. It was probably in the low 40s the first day or two they were outside, so I think he was just trying to stay warm. But I agree it was not a good look.

I wonder who had the bright idea of having their set face the ocean so that in the morning when the sun just still low on the horizon everyone looked like they were squinting badly.
