Look for me running naked down Clark if that happens with a big Cubs foam finger and a beer helmet on

Hank Scorpio, I am not trying to tell you how to live your life, because I am not your father, nor am I The Lord Jesus Christ. I am definitely not Satan. You may, however, wish to pick another adjective to describe the Chicago Cubs. The word "Glorious" is a very descriptive and specific word, to be used in very limited circumstances involving The Glorious New York Yankees. "Glorious" refers to legends, to World Series titles, to a team possibly blessed by The Almighty God. It is a word often misused on the Chicago Sports Fan Message Board to refer to food, little league teams, movies, tattoos, etc.

It has rarely, however, been so inappropriately used as it was in Hank Scorpio's post. Hank Scorpio, you seem like a good man, who will do the right thing. Thank you for your time and God bless you.

Well, this did not really correct the problem. In fact, it has worsened it.

My philosophy, however, is that I am a man of peace, not argument. I will now, therefore, act like Mahatma Ghandi, and bow to you with my hands clasped while wishing you the best. Unlike Ghandi, however, I will not remain peaceful if you attack me on horseback. Fortunately, I believe that this is unlikely.

i dont have high hopes for the cubs, but i think the trade for garza improves their starting pitching to a point where they will finish middle-of-the-pack simply due to that. maybe get lucky and catch a couple good offensive years from guys like ramirez and pena, maybe a short hope for wild card at best. my worry is that they do get a nice start, and it tricks ownership into thinking they are "for real" and it keeps them from selling instead of buying as the deadline approaches. in my opinion, the best thing that could happen for the cubs would be zambrano somehow starting out very strong and a team like the yankees take a stab at getting him to make a push against the rays and the red sox.

probably this is another lost year, waiting for contracts to expire, and i would still be looking to sell, sell, sell any veterans you can and start building from scratch, rather than piecemeal.

Ramirez has to be trade bait. Even if he has a good year I don't think they will pick up his $16M option for 2012. He will be 34 years old with an extensive injury history and questionable desire. I'm pretty sure they can't offer arbitration because they turned down the option so they will get nothing when he walks away after the season. His no trade clause expired after last season though he does get $1M if traded but that won't stand in the way of a deadline deal.

If we are out of it come deadline, which we most likely will, I'd hope he is the first piece Jim tries to move.

Great thread!

Im about 90% sure the Cubs will be a 78-82 win team.

The 10% is them having one of those crazy years where a bunch of guys have career years.

I like the back and forth with Keyser and NSD

This is going to be a normal year for the Cub. When the season ends, they will have not won the World Series, Hendry will still be a boob and Frank will still be a chubby little rascal.

A thread about a possible june slump in february needs no approval from me or anyone else

I beg to differ. I didn't post until I read your approval.

What the hell does November have to do with this? I don't like that cocksucker any more than his Hamas loving roommate. They can both piss off.

Oh fuck yourself, obviously I don't play for the Cubs or have any affiliation with them.

If the Chicago Cubs Baseball Team is out of it come the trade deadline, which the Chicago Cubs Baseball Team most likely will be, I'd hope that Aramis Ramirez is the first player that Jim Hendry attempts to move.

Fukudome has to be first player moved. He should have already been moved because every inning he plays while Tyler Colvin is sitting on the bench is a gigantic waste of time. I read that Quade will try to get Colvin time at 1B. If true then why the hell did they pay $10M for a 33 yr old coming off a .196 batting avg? The three ring circus needs to pick a direction and stick with it.

That's why the Brewers aren't using it this year.
