If Marmol goes to Arbitration this year I would estimate he makes a little more money than he negotiated for this year. So, maybe he gets $5 mill v $3.8 M he will get this year.

Then he needs to do this again next year and the year after that, because he under arbitration control.

So, MAYBE, just MAYBE he makes a little more if the negotiates every year and has a good year every single year.

Or he could lock up $20 mill NOW and he still gets free agency after his 6th year.

In some cases I admire a player who is willing to step up and negotiate each year, like Danks did, but that does not always mean it is a good idea.

PLUS, if you have any idea about baseball, going to arbitration is a terrible thing for players and teams to try and do. The team sits at a table and tells the player how bad he is.
