Sox put that in the contract. Had to take it if they wanted the real 162. It's like getting married. You're stuck with the mother in law.

Why does it bother you that Laurence makes so much money?

You were the one that brought it up today. Why does it bother you that he makes so little? Doens't bother me. I just jumped in on the conversation. What's the point of any of these thread topics, really? Nothing. Some are more interesting to discuss than others.

I still can't get a date if that makes all of you happy.

Beardown, stop acting like you know. Its pure speculation on your part.

And what do you think Larry started at? Dont you think he probably got a raise for doing Hamp and Holmes?

If he started around 20-25 15 years ago...im sure he's in the 80-100 range now

Of course I don't know. I do know that no company pays you more than what you bring to them.

Are you serious?

Beardown wrote:
[That's just common sense. So he gets 80-100k when there are several days in the Spring and Summer when he does half hour shows? Are you kidding me? What world do you guys live in? Just cuz Mitch likes him and he's been there a while? That's how you guys think a major company operates?

No its not common sense. Its you thinking you know business and being sorely mistaken.

I happen to work for a large company, like the ones you see in movies. Ive worked for a few, they dont operate like you thnk and how they operate certainly has nothing to do with common sense.

So now that weve completely discredited you telling anyone anything about busiiness...lets move on to your he works half the timie argument.

Did he work half the time when Hamp and Holmes was going on?

No, he didnt.

Do you think he took a paycut since then?

Highly doubtful

What do you think a midday host makes?

anyways...this all adds up to a lot more than 45K.

Im sorry if it bothers you that he makes a lot more than you estimated...but he likely does.

Please dont post any of that condescending bullshit about business again, you clearly know nothing about it.

Thank you

And just so you know there are no hard feelings...

If it were a full time show, I'd agree that it's close to what you say. A lot of you are failing to recognize that it's a part time show in the fall and winter and that it's very limited hours in the spring and summer. That's my point that seems to get lost. Nobody here comprehends this fact. It's also a time slot that doesn't do huge revenue for a sports station. That's all I'm saying.

So you're basically arguing that Laurence Holmes is overpaid?

LoHo typically is still doing an hour before any Sox game and often filling time for weather delays along with filling in shifts over the summer. He's there everyday working like a beaver.

To argue that he's some kind of part-time employee is a reach.

Compared to the shows in the day, he is a part-timer. It's not meant to be an insult. It's just a fact. Hour and half hour shows don't qualify as part time?

Wouldn't "full time" in radio be a set shift time for 5 days a week?

You must think its 1992.

Mully & Hanley are probably at $150K plus.Mac is at $250K i believe.
Both Boers & Berns are $300K plus.
Loho has got to be near 6 figures.
Spiegel is probably between $50K & $75k.

If Mully and Hanley both make 150k for that train wreck they call a show.....wow

No. There are a number of roles at the station - host, reporter, fill-in, playa, etc. LoHo does them all.

His very value lies in his ability to fill multiple roles. He's LoHo Oquendo.

Just because he isn't on the station doesn't mean he's not working for the station.

My guess would be he didn't get a pay increase when he took the "Hamp and Holmes" show. That was a try out. It was only a 2 hour slot, right? It didn't even last a year. Mac became available and Larry was sent back to what he was doing before. Only now with increased hate for red neck crackers. I think Hamp was paid much more than Larry for that one year.

Probably fairly close to it, arent they close to the top in the 25 to 54 yr old male demo? That brings a lot of ad dollars in. Their show may suck but if its neat the top in their target demo, 300k between them isnt a stretch. Eric of Eric and Kathy fame is close to 7 figures if Im not mistaken, and even the no- talent Kathy is somewhere around 3 to 400 k, and that show blows far worse than anything Mully and Hanley do. They get ratings somehow and are compensated accordingly. Go figure. :|

In the end it doesn't matter. The bottom line is that white people are getting two more years of being told they're racist by the evening host at the Score. Way to go Mitch!!!!

I don't care how much he makes. I only care about having to listen to more of him. He is a good listen about 20 percent of the time I hear him, but when he is bad he is not listenable.

Just one more point. If it's like Doc says - that you just get paid 80-100k for just being at the Score for a long time -then why does somebody like George Offman run to the suspect "Chicagosportswebio"? He was on air talent for 18 years. I know he was just an update guy with a Saturday baseball show. Still, more of a long time on air role than Larry. More on air tenure. You think he's leaving 80k on the table for the shaddy David Hernandez and the odd pay increase that can't be explained?

Jesse was a baseball reporter/host like Larry. He was at the Score forever. He ran to webio. Hood was a part time night host at ESPN 1000 like Larry. He ran to webio.

my guess is that north sold these guys on it. nort thought he could hook up his friends with higher paying gigs and then they would all kiss his feet.
