I'm in agreement with many things said here about Holmes.

But the ONE thing that drives me nuts and makes the show pretty damn near unlistenable:

"What do you want to say about the _______?"

To me, that is totally condescending.
Plus, he says the exact same thing to each caller.

At least change it up a bit.

It's so annoying that I'm having a hard time falling asleep to the show. (work nights)

Laurence probably thinks it makes him sound more conversational than just "Bill in Streamwood you're on WSCR" to add "what do you want to say about last night's Bears game?" or whatever, but it actually makes him come off as mildly hectoring. It's to be assumed that the caller is on topic or he wouldn't have gotten on the air. Just ID the caller and get out of the way.

But hey, speaking of, ever notice that Laurence, Matty, et al (basically everyone but Bernsie and Murph) invert name and location a lot? Is it because there are fields being filled out wrong on the other side of the glass and the host doesn't think to fix it? Listen for it. "Park Ridge in Mike" and stuff.
