Challenge #20

The FINAL challenge.... NCAA basketball.

This challenge will span a couple of days, but you can do it all in one shot if you are interested.

The first part of the challenge is to predict conference championships. Each conference has a specific amount of points you can earn by correctly predicting the winner. These conferences and points are:

3/12 - Saturday
C-USA: 1
Big 12: 3
Pac 10: 2
Mtn West: 1
MAC: 1
Big East: 3
WAC: 1

3/13 - Sunday
A10: 1
SEC: 2
ACC: 2
Big Ten: 3

Make sure you submit your conference champion predictions for those conferences by 10:00 AM of the day in question. If you'd like a shot at bonus points, you can send in predictions by 9:00 PM Thursday for some or all of those conferences. If you do submit entries on Thursday, you will be locked into those particular selections, however, you will earn 150% of the points listed above (a 1 point game is worth 1.5, 2 worth 3, 3 worth 4.5.) You don't have to pick the full slate on Thursday, so I could submit a MAC, WAC, and ACC champion on Thursday, and then Saturday and Sunday I could send in the rest of these entries.

Without bonus, the max you can get is 20. To make it an even 100, here's the second part of the challenge.

Correctly predict teams seeding on Selection Sunday. Submit four teams per category -- you can not duplicate any team names. Categories and points for each correct prediction are:

1 seeds: 1 point
2 seeds: 1 point
3 seeds: 1.5 points
4 seeds: 2 points
5 seeds: 2 points
6 or 7 seed: 2.5 points
8 or 9 seed: 3 points
10 or 11 seed: 3 points
12 seed: 4 points

Note that you can submit four teams per category... a sample submission might be:

1 Seeds: Duke, BYU, Illinois, Flordia
2 Seeds: Utah State, Weber State, Arkansas State, Indiana State
...
6,7 Seeds: Florida State, Miami (OH), Miami (FL), IUPUI
8,9 Seeds: Jacksonville State, LA-Lafayette, Miss Valley State, Purdue
...
12 seed: Michigan, Michigan State, Duke, Loyola (MD)

Since I submitted Duke as the #1 and the #12, only the Duke entry in the #1 seed spot will be eligible for any points. These must be submitted by 4:00 PM Sunday.

Tiebreaker is whoever has the most correct #1 seeds, followed by #2, etc.
