I currently stand at 236. Gonna try to hit my goal by July 4th. That is 2 lbs a week
so I think that is definitely possible. I was over 255 at the beginning of last year so
if I can get there it will be quite a change.

You can do it man....just give yourself 2 weeks and you get used to a routine....

Part two of the get fit campaign begins Tuesday, March 1.

Now that I am down to 205, I will really focus on the chest and arms. I'll still continue to do the treadmill at least once a week, but the other 2-3 days will be weight lifting. The arms are coming in nicely, but the chest still needs a lot of work.

I still wouldn't mind getting down to 200, and give myself that 5 lbs to work with.

Don't forget to mix in some incline and decline bench press.

Thanks for the encouragement. I definitely need to get a solid routine going in the gym and out.

IS0P meetings are killing you right now. If you can manage to avoid them and the calories they entail you should meet your goal.

No shit...the first ISOP - Iowa chapter meeting at the Golden Corral on Wednesday sure didn't help any...

244 today. That's down 16 from my start point.
I thought I really blew it this weekend, getting shitfaced on lite beer. But I guess not bad.

Plateaued again which was expected. Still hovering around 200. Not a problem, I'm still working my ass off and not cheating at all on the diet. I'm on the ice 4x this week so hopefully that will help. the one thing that is scaring me is I have a bachelor party Saturday night and there's gonna be a lot of drinking etc.

Went shopping today and picked up diet pop for the mixers...so no more regular pop in the house.

I'm not posting in this thread again until I'm under 300...

Almost a month into the diet / exercise combo, havent weighed in yet ( I'll do that on Monday) but have definitely dropped some pounds and inches. Have a lot more energy and just overall feel pretty good. Running 4 to 5 miles 4 times a week, then 2 days on the elliptical. Its nice when you see results. Hope everyone else sticks to it.

Nice work Rogue. I've been running a 3 miles before work each morning and today I am
going to start going back to the gym for 45 minutes of lifting at least 3 or 4 times
a week. Feel good and I know I'll be down some but waiting until Monday to weigh in.
Found out they are having a weight loss contest here at work starting next Tuesday
based on percentage of body weight lost. 1st place $300, 2nd place $150 and 3rd $75.
Contest ends at the end of June. A little extra incentive.

Just had my weekly weigh in, I'm all the way down to 197!!!

That's 28 pound total since the start of the year. Can't remember the last time I was under 200.

Now I'm gonna try not to ruin it all at tonight's bachelor party. Gonna really try to get up and go to hockey tomorrow at 9:30, but that might be very naive of me given what is gonna be going on tonight.

5'10, but I have a really muscular lower body so I clock in higher than the normal 5'10 person. I once got down to under 180 when I had mono and I looked like an extra from a Steven Spielberg concentration camp themed movie. 185-190 is the perfect number for, gonna try to get to 190. I doubt at my age I can keep it under 190 like I was able to do in my late 20s.

I finally joined a gym about 2 weeks ago, along with my Wife & 2 of my 3 kids. I decided that it was finally time to dedicate myself to getting healthier & losing about 20 pounds. I didn't really know what to expect & didn't really think I would take to it, but I love going to the gym. I have gone every day for 9 days in a row & work out at least 90 minutes each day, 30 minutes on the treadmill & 60 minutes on the weight machines. Also stopped eating junk food & foods high in fat. It has become an obsession for me to eat right & workout daily & I enjoy it.
Lets see what happens this week as I am traveling on business all week.

Guys, this may be a really dumb question, so I'm apologizing in advance....

But, I'm noticing that while others guys at the gym can lift a lot more than me (like double), I look a hell of lot more "defined" than them, especially in the arms....is this because I also do treadmill, thus burning more fat? These guys only hit the weights, I never see them hit the treadmill.

I also try to eat somewhat decent too, avoiding anything heavy during the week, focusing on fruits and veggies and water and eggs for protein during the week.

Hey guys, my apologies in advance if this is a dumb question, but...

Why am I so much more awesome than everyone else?

Do you think it's because I work harder than everyone else and that's the reason I'm so awesome?

Or is the work just irrelevant because I am naturally awesome?

The issue of my awesomeness is pretty perplexing to me. So figure it out for me and post your comments here. Thx.

spmack, it could be because you're changing it up. a lot of guys also don't do as many reps as weight, and that will create more bulk but won't define.

SH, don't hurt yourself. if your body isn't used to that kind of activity, you may pull something or create some issues.

Lent begins. I usually drop between 10-15 pounds due to fasting/abstaining. I'm trying to add a more family focused component which should increase my activity as well.

It sucks to be hungry pretty much every moment of every day. You can tell yourself to forget the pain but it's like having a stone in your shoe on a long walk. It's always in the back of your mind. You know the meal you are eating is not going to fill you up enough to stop the pain. It gives you an appreciation for what others go through during a lifetime, which I guess is one of the points of the exercise. Anyway, I've dropped 3+ in the first week.
