But yes, that was the biggest heartbreaking thing in my life, the 84 cubs. I can remember being in school after they went up 2 games, and a cubs pennant fell in the classroom out of the blue. the teacher said to us that she hoped it wasnt a bad omen. I guess it was.
But what a great season, love my 1984 brothers! Great POST Enigma!

As I said, leave it to Cub fans to turn this into a love-fest for the 69 and 84 Cubs. Give it a rest.[/quote]

WTF. we post about the 84 cubs, what, once in fucking 10 years, and you're on our balls. YOU Give it a rest! Are you really Mike Murphy?

Before 1984 I didn't follow baseball all too much but I became a huge Cubs fan by watching them in '84. I was dissapointed in the playoff collapse but I figured the Cubs would be back in the playoffs next year. As you can see I was still naive at that point.

As I got older I realized how futile following the Cubs can be. By 2003 I knew that appearances in the playoffs are few and far between so when they blew that opportunity to get to the World Series, it hit me harder then when I was 12 years old.

Are you guys serious?? Mourning period??? Who died?? Its a game played by freakin millionaires who dont care about me or you. When your kid drops a ball in the last inning that lets the winning run score you can have a mourning period. But to feel bad after these high priced babies lose?? Gimme a break.

I don't think anyone is confusing their own personal "sports" world where they are devasted with their "real life" world. Obviously athletes are high priced babies just like all celebs are, but are you saying you do not watch professional sports because if you do then you are a hypocrite for contributing to ratings that inevitably brings money to these pros.
