The Cell is 20 this year? I find it hard to believe as a Cubs fan.

I know I will be beaten with a stick by Cub fans for this but I actually really like the cell. The only thing I don't like is the music can get a little loud. But I like the kid stuff, the tailgating and the better variety of food choices.

It's still a little too Ball mally but I think they've improved on that since it first opened.

The funny thing is it's actually not too much bigger than Wrigley at least the actual field has about the same size but it seems three times as big.

What's even harder to believe is that it's now something like the 5th oldest ballpark isn't it? Behind Wrigley, Fenway, Dodger Stadium (which is weird to think is 3rd oldest now)and the MArlins stadium is older but the Marlins didn't start until 1993. Is Toronto the same age or a year older and what about the Kingdome? So it's between 5th and 8th.

The Cell is technically smaller than Wrigley by seating capacity....and it is the 10th oldest park.

Why is it hard to believe that it's 20? Your team hasn't built a new stadium since... 1914?

I think 2008 was my season of like ~40-50 games between Wrigley, Comiskey, and Miller Park. At Comiskey you could still smoke on the ramps in the upper deck, so during one game I was out there in LF doin my thing and being the gentleman that I am I smoked up one of the concession guys who was on a smoke break.

After a nice conversation he was like "hey fam, whenever you're in the ballpark, it's worth your while to come on down to my area during the game... trust me on this one"

Sure enough, for the last few months of the season, whenever I'd come up to this guy and order a MGD, i'd give him a $10 and he'd give me my beer plus like $12 change, as if I had given him a 20. He'd do this like ~4-5 times per game, I'd turn around and tip a few bucks with each beer, and as it worked out I drank for free and he got like $10-15 in tips (plus a few puffs here and there).

That's the kind of experience you can only get at comiskey. Hell, in the late 90s/early 00s you could catch the business end of a blunt up in the cold-ass upper deck in early april games =D

Remember that the Sox have had to put a lot of money into the aesthetic of the building post construction to make it into the acceptable venue it is now.

Stadium construction in this city over the past 20 years has been a failure.
