I love all 3 hum records with a fierceness. but I agree with you doug. DIH is fucking epic.
I think each album is an improvement on it's previous one.
My band recorded a 5 song demo at Pogo with Mark Rubel in 99.
A lotta money for little desired results, though.

My favorite Champaign band is Didjits. One of my bands played on a bill with them at Batteries Not Included on Clybourn (I think it's called Flounder's now). Bobby Stinson also played that show with a band called Model Prisoner. He was totally fucked up to where I felt bad for him. He begged for beer from the stage like he was going to cry if he didn't get it. And the other guys in Model Prisoner were just guys. They really didn't belong in a band with the great Bobby Stinson. Anyway, the Didjits were fucking intense. They owned that stage that night. Rick Sims was as aggressive as fuck. He didn't give a shit that a bunch of people were there to see a guy from the Replacements. It seemed like he sneered his way through the entire set. As they were finishing up in a great roar and cacophony, Sims spit, "The guitarist in the next band played on Saturday Night Live". Fuckin' rock!

JORR - you obviously like the late Bob Stinson a bit, have you heard Bash and pop or Chris Mars' albums, of course we all know Paul's solo records..

I like the Bash N Pop record a lot. It has that Faces feel to it. It's not the caliber of even the worst Replacements record (Don't Tell A Soul) because Tommy isn't the writer Paul is. But then, who is?

I remember reading an interview with Tommy and Paul a long, long time ago. And they talked about how they were trying to be something they weren't with Stink and they were a shitty hardcore band. And Tommy said something about how he remembered playing shows with a pack of skinheads standing in front screaming, "Play faster!!!". And Paul said that they were trying to play like a hardcore band but they were thinking Thin Lizzy the whole time. When I first heard the song "Fast and Hard" from the Bash N Pop record, I thought that was what it was about.

I had the first Chis Mars record and I thought it was just okay. I tried to give it a chance but I didn't love it. I liked the Slim Dunlap record better. There are a couple good tunes on there.

truce is over, I LOVE Don't Tell A Soul....
I remember checking that cassette out of my library 20 years ago.

 I don't hate Don't Tell A Soul. There are some good songs on there. It's just a little too polished for my tastes.

I just happened to hit the Replacements exactly right. I bought the Sorry Ma LP right when it first came out at Record City when it was on Oakton. I would just buy records with cool covers and hope for the best. Sorry Ma fucking blew me away. It came crankin' out of the box with "Takin' A Ride" and just kept going full tilt all the way. I grew up with them from there. Let It Be is a motherfuckin' statement. And I was exactly the right age for it to really hit home at the time. Tim is probably their best record, but to me Tommy Ramone fucked it up a little with his muddy mix.

gotta say CSFMB is the last place I'd think to hear a Bash & Pop discussion.....it's a pretty solid album. Loose Ends is a jam

I kind of shamelessly ripped off Winder on one of my songs, but Rubel didn't record Electra 2000, so I didn't feel too dirty about it.
PM me your info and I'll send you the tunes, Doug.

It's pretty damn good. There are some mixing things in later tracks, but I really liked it. It's fun to hear that 90s "sound" again. Fuzzy guitars, big drums, and thick bass. 8)

I would put the songs up on youtube if I wasn't such an idiot.
I don't know how to put mp3's without video on YT.

I saw this duo on Jimmy Fallon a few days ago. $5.99 on iTunes. Just bought it.
This girls voice is as beautiful as she is physically. :D 8)

Wow, good call T-Bone. I downloaded this yesterday and damn. Intervention alone is enough for me to make this a good album. I've only listened to it a few times, but already I can identify a lot of gems. But the biggest disappointment for me is No Cars Go. That melody was a home-run, but lyrically it struck out.

Frank oughta like this. You can even hear the seeds of "Candy Store Rock" in the intro.

When I was finally coming around on The Suburbs I asked Boyd about this one and he mentioned
that I should pull the trigger. It is interesting to see the bands progression from The Funeral through
The Suburbs. I kind of agree with you on No Cars Go but it is just such a fun song to listen to that
I take it for what it is. Glad you are enjoying it.

I remember how much yapping it took for me to get you to give The Suburbs another shot.

Have either of you listened to Funeral yet?

I eventually picked it up just so I had the whole library. It is definitely hit or miss.
Each successive album has gotten much better IMO.

Even if Lupe himself doesn't like it, I think it's a dope album. Really good tracks on this one...

Also very good. Love the track with Black Tought (Masters of Our Fate). Production is really good on this one...
