Premeired on FX tonight.

Not great, but good enough to keep me interested for a while.
Patrick "Lights" Leary is the former Heavyweight champion who needs money so he does some things he's not so sure aboot. Beats up a dentist who owes $500,000 to a mobster, knocks the shit out of a guy at the bar talking shit for a few hundred bucks. Now gonna unretire and fight the guy he lost to in his last fight.

And he has CTE.

The commercials never gave me an idea of what it is about so I didn't bother to give it a chance.

It's not good.

You can't just put a bad wig on some dude that's never acted in his life
and think you'll get the new Vic Mackey. I can't say I won't watch next week,
cos' I probably will, but this show fucking blows. Gotta knock it out on the pilot
if anyone is going to watch the rest. The acting sucked. waste of time.

No idea what you're talking about.

Who did they put a wig on who's never acted before? Holt McCallany has been acting for almost 20 years.

I don't think they're trying to make someone Vic Mackey. He's a boxer not a cop. And beating the shit out of the dentist made him realize he didn't want to do that again.

Sorry you didn't like it.

I thought it was good. Could be better.

I'll continue to watch for now.

I agree, no idea what he's talking about. I actually thought it was good and bordering on real good.

Just saying he looked like Vic Mackey in a wig.
That guy has been acting for 20 years?
The pilot certainly didn't deliver on any expectations
I had for this show. My wife and I wanted to turn it off less than half way in.

I'm glad you guys liked it, though.

Whaddayathink?

Really crappy weekend to release it. Wall-to-wall NFL playoff football games

What are they thinking?

Maybe I'll catch a matinee on Saturday.

Shakes,
I agree 100%. I have just seen the 1st episode (ONDEMAND is great) and watched it twice (with my son, later with my wife). I thought the fact he has a family and is a dad
put an interesting spin on things. I loved the part where he stared down the daughters boyfriend. I can relate to that.

I missed the second episode last week. Hopefully it's On Demand already so I can watch it before tonight's episode.

I saw the premiere episode last night. The guy who plays the main character is pretty stiff, but I still enjoyed the show. Will watch subsequent episodes.

I thought the first two episodes were a little underwhelming, but the third was a big step up. I feel bad though for mentally typecasting all of the actors from The Wire. "Norman's not allowed to be a sleazy promoter! And what's his problem with Nick Sobotka??"

This show is awesome! Gets better every week. Only 2 episodes left!

And on that note let me be the first to report that Lights Out has not been picked up for a second season! :x :x :x :x

Lights Out is one of the best TV shows I have ever watched. (That's a lot of TV)
I have never seen most of the leads on this show, but they are all excellent actors.

That was a hell of a final episode.

One complaint. The boxing sequences are absolutely horrible. But overall a great way to end the series.

I watched two episodes of this show and I kinda had a feeling that this was going to get cancelled so I stopped watching it. That and the fact that they would have the lead guy kick Bas Rutten's ass in a MMA fight just made it to ridiculous for me to watch.

Back to the wrestling section for me.

I liked that it didn't make everything great and fine. There are consequences to getting repeatedly punched in the face and it was nice that they were shown.

The pugilists dementia was something they introduced in the first episode and was a main concern of Daniella. Turns out her concern was warranted.

See I agree that a second season would've delved into that part. I don't think Reynolds threw the fight. I think Barry and Hal probably would have been secret partners next season.

Just like Barry Allen and Hal Jordan. :)

*spoiler alert*

What a bad final episode. The last fight was really bad. A crooked ref and a crooked doctor? Lame. Leary getting his ass handed to him for the first round and then miraculously taking over the fight in round 2? Both fighters looked bad. 5 years ago this was supposedly an epic fight and now they both looked bad.

The mom showing up was worthless too. Moving the line was worthless too.

I enjoyed the show but the final episode left me wanting more. At least give us an evenly matched 9 round fight.

BMR,
Good review of the final episode. I didn't want to read this thread until I actually watched the episode. Still overall a great series. Sorry to see it go.
