London, Feb 10 (IANS) A reunion of rock band The Doors might be possible if Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder agrees to perform with them.

Vedder had performed with the three members of the band about 10 years ago when The Doors were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and drummer John Densmore says he would perform if Vedder agreed to tour with the group.

Densmore has been fighting with former Doors bandmates Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek ever since they launched "The Doors Of The 21st Century" with The Cult singer Ian Astbury.

"I play with Jim Morrison. If there's someone of that level, ok. I'm not gonna join them with Ian. He's a good singer - but he's no Jim Morrison. Eddie Vedder? My god, there's a singer," Densmore was quoted as saying by contactmusic.com.

Asked if he'd perform with his bandmates if Vedder was on board for shows, the drummer replied: "Probably."

i know its only densmore saying this, but if it happens, id travel many miles and pay many dollars to see this. ive got the bootleg of eddie singing with the doors at the RnR HOF gig and its fucking great.

Wow. The merging of the most moribund and mediocre musicians ever. How completely worthless.

How does hating both The Doors and Eddie Vedder relate to the Cubs?

Didn't they already get back together a couple years ago as the 21st Century Doors. Manzarek has pimped Morrisons corpse as much as possible. The first two albums are great and "Waiting for the Sun" has it's moments, but the rest of the catalouge blows.

Yeah. I believe the singer from The Cult (FIIIIIRE WOMAN!!!!) was singing.

By singing, I mean doing his best Jim Morrison impression.

unfortunately as generations pass and the 70's are getting further away from "classic rock" and getting almost into "oldies" territory, bands like the doors, pink floyd, zeppelin, sabbath, rush, jethro tull, etc. get flung into the category of "jurassic rock" and it doesn't help that crappy fm radio stations only play the standards from these bands. if you actually listen to a doors record, all the way through, something like "soft parade", you will realize how great that band was. it really sucks that all you hear from the doors on the radio is "light my fire", "roadhouse blues", and "la woman" and it gets overplayed over and overplayed and overplay just like "another brick in the wall pt. 2", "money" (most overplayed song ever), "radar love" by golden earring, the list can go on. it's the same thing that has happened to the beatles. it's really a shame. time sucks. down with time.

Outstanding post Zack, I have been saying the same thing for years. FM radio has ruined the reputation, with the younger generation, of some great bands of the 60s and 70s by overplaying only a few songs. Zeppelin is my favorite band followed closely by Floyd. I can't even listen to Stairway to Heaven or Money any longer. They have also done the same thing to Hendrix. I guess it is just laziness and cost cutting by having everything on a set rotation. It is a shame.

Great post Wheaton Zack. In re "Soft Parade"

Classic rock isn't the only music ruined by FM radio. I'm 24 and got into music because of Nirvana, but if I never hear "Smeels Like Teen Spirit", "Come as you Are" or pretty much any Nirvana single, it wouldn't bother me. However, songs getting over-played on radio dont take away from the brilliance it held the first time you heard it.

i unfortunately let the radio ruin "come as you are" for me. i can't stand that song anymore. it was never one of my favorites, but now when i hear that bass riff opening, i have to change the channel. same thing with "basketcase" by green day, among a few other songs by green day.

the station that's on right now a co-worker's listening to is "the drive"--that station drives home my point. it's awful. especially the "10 at 10" segment.

Totally agree.
I love how they used "Funeral for a friend" in a station promo that airs all the time, yet I've never heard them play the actual song.

I know who Ian Anderson is. I know who Jethro Tull is. While Ian Anderson is a bit of a self-serving pudwhack, Jethro Tull is an amazingly good band, unlike the Doors.

Add television and commercials to the list as well. My nephew refers to The Who and Zeppelin as the guys from CSI and the Cadillac commercial.

That's why I gave up FM radio and listen to internet radio instead. Here's a good one:

I record long streams and put them on the mp3 player and listen in the car, too.
