Anyone mention Vedder or Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes?

Chris Robinson is a good call.

I love Pearl Jam...I've seen them a few times. Eddie Vedder isn't all that dynamic on stage. None of the guys from the grunge era really are/were.

Yeah, not so much anymore, but if you were at the show at the Aragon 20 years ago with RHCP and the Pumpkins, you'd remember that he used to be a force.
One of the greatest 3 band bills EVER!!!!!!!!!

I've been in this discussion before, with basically the same principle candidates, and every time it usually ends up at Freddie Mercury, but I think timing has a lot to do with it. Queen's greatest period was at the height of bombast and glam in rock, and they were great practitioners of that model. Iggy Pop gets thrown off the ballot because he is as known, perhaps more so, as a solo artist as one of The Stooges. David Byrne's a great front man, too, if you think about it. John Lydon should be considered for The Sex Pistols and P.I.L.

But, at the end of the day, it all comes back to one man:

This is what all entertainment would be like if the Axis Powers had won WWII:

Love all the DLR mentions. I have a softspot for VH as they were my favorite band in high school. As much as I think Dave is a total moron now, I didn't think there was anyone cooler than him back in the 80s, when I was younger and didn't know any better.

While looking for cool links of that era of VH, I stumbled upon this one, which I had never seen before. It's the opening 2 songs of the Diver Down tour from Caracas, Venzuela. Though I've heard these songs live many times via various bootlegs, these are 2 great versions. I was trying to find the Argentina bootleg from this tour for Unchained, but this version sounds pretty good too.

^ I wish I could've seen VH in the 80's. Alex's snare drum sounds awesome in that clip Ed.
I just don't know how they pilled this shit off, considering the chemicals that were most likely coursing their veins.

I never understood all the love for David Lee Roth. I didn't even think he was the best front man they had

Personally, I believe Sammy was/is a better singer, but Diamond Dave was far and away the better frontman.

Yeah thats probably right, I should have said the best lead singer they had.

My oldest daughter asked today if she could download Aerosmith's Dream On to her Ipod. Not sure if I should be proud or concerned.

Just be glad that it wasn't Chad Kroeger who became a judge on American Idol.

I'd guess any who has seen The Jesus Lizard says David Yow is the answer.

Saul: Vait a minute. Vat about David Yow?
Clarence: Oh, there they go. There they go, every time I start talkin 'bout frontmen, a Chicago man got to pull David Yow out their ass. That's their one, that's their one. David Yow. David Yow. Let me tell you something once and for all. David Yow was good, but compared to Iggy Pop, David Yow ain't shit.
