Sorry, I am a Cubs fan, but I have zero enthusiasm for this team primarily based on ownership and management. I heard Ricketts this morning on Mulley and Hanley say the "great offseason". You have got to be fucking kidding me! Regretfully not. If only Mark Cuban was the owner. Oh well!

Why is it primarily based on ownership and management? Did Ricketts hand out all of the dumb contracts over the past 5 years? Was Quade managing this club to back-to-back disappointing seasons? At least give those two people a chance before shitting on them. If you want to shit on the awful roster, go ahead. But neither of that is Ricketts' or Quade's fault.

I think that they largely stood pat when they were not a particularly good team last year. Garza is not as good as Lee. That's a downgrade. They're still stuck with a poor defensive outfield, and really poor defensive infield and what might be an awful defensive backup catcher. I'm not sold at all on the bottom 3/5 of the starting staff. The pen looks good, they should enjoy "trying to keep it close" duty.

They get off to a fairly good start, and are in first place at some point in May, possibly even as late as Memorial Day as they benefit from an April schedule that is in their favor. But the Brewers, Cards, and Reds all show they are better as the season goes on. Bad defense and bad middle relief costs the Cubs a number of games even though the offense ends up being pretty decent. The first half of the season overall is pretty good for the Cub, post AS break is woeful. 78-83 (late season rainout not madeup), 4th place behind the Brewers (Division Winner), Cards, and Reds.

the worst move ricketts made was letting hendry make off season moves and name the new manager. what is ricketts supposed to say? standard b.s. that most owners would say..that is why i did not listen to the interview .. i would rather have lee than pena....pena move makes zero sense, i would also rather move colvin to 1st or aram to 1st and bring up a young vitters. ricketts can fix this in october by firing hendry and bringing in a competent gm to handle everything.
