Maybe this year, IF the Reds make the playoffs, they can manage to win a game.

Frank at least when Lou was with the Reds, he won a goddam World Series. Remember, that glorious Oakland series? Lou was managing when the Reds swept the A's.

Maybe this year, IF the Cubs make the playoffs, they can manage to win a game (which they didn't with Lou).

Well.....Matt Holliday got hurt so the 'division is coming back to the Cubs' a little more.

Have the Pirates had any key injuries yet??

For a $146M+, you'd like to think that your team has a chance to win the World Series.

RK PLAYER Salary (US$)
3 Chicago Cubs 146,609,000
11 St. Louis Cardinals 93,940,751
12 Houston Astros 92,355,500
18 Milwaukee Brewers 81,108,278
21 Cincinnati Reds 68,200,542
30 Pittsburgh Pirates 34,933,000

Certainly the Cub have not gotten a good ROI, but holy smokes! the Astros are spending a shitload of money for one of the worst rosters in the NL.

Fixed. I got cold and wet for this shit?!? If you'll pardon the expression. Notre Dame put the wrong student in that lift.

j, that was almost a 20 year gap between managing the reds and managing the cubs. lou was on cruise control for the most part here.

My prediction is the Cubs will be bad and will stop watching sometime before May starts.

1984 and 1989 are examples of Cub teams with no expectations that won far more games than anybody thought they could. The 1998 wild card team sucked goat nuts. Playoffs all three seasons. It is baseball it can happen!!!

the worst move ricketts made was letting hendry make off season moves and name the new manager. what is ricketts supposed to say? standard b.s. that most owners would say..that is why i did not listen to the interview .. i would rather have lee than pena....pena move makes zero sense, i would also rather move colvin to 1st or aram to 1st and bring up a young vitters. ricketts can fix this in october by firing hendry and bringing in a competent gm to handle everything.

I agree. But who is going to help Ricketts evaluate & hire a competent GM? Crane Kenney?

not sure.but i am confident hendry is canned after the season.

"Can't forget what Fuk has done for us, man" - the ghost of Dusty Baker.

I remember that quote being invoked for both Jose Macias and Neifi Perez =D

After watching the first series, I predict the cubs at 75-87 and 4th in the central.

* In a salute to Redford throwing the first pitch,Jim Hendry will make an "Indecent Proposal" to Cubbiegirlshamus.

* Most Cub players will bleed through their jersey in a salute to "The Natural".

*2nd BM,Barney will put up "Beckham" like numbers with the Cubs. (Beckham,2010)

*Carlos Pena will start off very slow and might be booed out of the lineup by June 1st.

* The cold weather and above average SP & BP will get the Cubs a good start. The months of June,July & August will knock them back to reality.

* Quade will bench Castro sometime in the season for poor SS play.

* Final record: 77-85

Make the above Pena Prediction May 1st.....SHEESSHH,does he suck!

You missed my predictions that Ricketts would be a horrible owner who is stretched financially, & Quade would be a terrible Manager.
Thank you.

Randy Wells is going to have a stellar year for a #4 guy.

Starlin Castro .302/.382./.420
Pena .245, 29 hr's 95rbi
Soto .275/.395/.450 makes the all star team

Fukudome gets moved at the trade deadline

Team hangs around all year, but never goes on a big run

82-80

Castro finished at .307/.341/.432
Pena finished at .225 with 28 home runs 80rbi
Soto I was hilariously wrong on.

Soto is maddeningly inconsistent. Every year he changes from awful to awesome.

2007: 389/433/667 only 54 AB's
2008: 285/364/504
2009: 218/321/381
2010: 280/393/497
2011: 228/310/411

Castro is the hotness

whistler ends up calling Hendry a bully over 50 times

Elmhurst Steve remains racist

Frank spends more time in the Cubs section than the Sox section

Well at least I got my last 5 predictions right

He's like Steve Trachsel, only good in even years.
