And why does Quade have Reed Johnson, a RH hitter, pinch hitting instead of DeWitt, a lefty, in the 9th? And why the fuck is Byrd hitting third. He clearly is not up to that challenge. Given the lack of alternatives, I'd put Colvin there.

Byrd hit 3rd just fine for a lot of last year?

Not. He rarely ever hit 3rd. Mostly 2nd.

Byrd is the RH version of Jaques Jones. A lot of ground ball singles and not much else. He has been overswinging in these first 3 games.

If true (and what is your source for this stat) the fact that Byrd had 66 RBI in 580 AB's proves he is not a clutch hitter and any 3rd place hitter is supposed to be able to drive in some runs.

Byrd needs to get a new shipment from Conte.

Marlon's SLG % was down 50 points last year compared to his Texas 2009 season. His slg % went up in in Texas (no surprise),pretty mediocre everywhere else.

Do some research before you start spouting bullshit. The Cubs had a crap offense last season, no one was ever on base except Castro, Colvin, and Byrd.

So you actually think Byrd is a 3rd place hitter?

Try again.

In comparison, he had 50 plate appearances batting 2nd. So...avoid talking out your ass this baseball season.

Wow. Boom Roasted.

Byrd actually hit .227 .272 .300 .572 last year hitting 3rd! When using stats, you may want to actually analyze them first!

Whenever Marmol walks the leadoff hitter it usually ends badly.

Marlon Byrd sucks and should NOT be batting 3rd. I don't care how many times he did it last year. Do you want Soriono batting leadoff or fielding 2B? He's done it in the past. Stupid is as stupid does.

Brenly said Friday on the Score the Cubs should have 2 shutouts this weekend against the Pirates, and either a 5-1 or at worst 4-2 homestand. Great start for Mr. Baseball.

Watching the Cubs is like having Benny the Bull's balls in your mouth at a Bulls game, while trying to view the game from your seat.

soto had a .390 OBP in almost 400 plate appearances last year, best on the team. Colvin had a .316 in 394. not sure how colvin made your list.

Other than Castro, he is the Cubs best young prospect without any doubt. He should be playing 150+ games.

Agreed.

Not that it's an ideal fit for either, but with our roster 150 games should start

1-Castro
2-Colvin

Some thoughts...

I can not watch a whole season of Byrd hitting in the 3 hole. Can't do it, can't win with 'em.

Luckily I think Quade has the balls to move guys when they are not performing unlike the last 2 managers.

Castro will get his defense turned around, he is still young and it takes time.

Garza looked good, gave up a lot of hits but there were quite a few cheap ones in there.

Still confident in the division win :D

i agree with this also. however, i disagree that he was ever "a force" last year.

in 358 at bats, he had 20HRs and 56RBI with a slugging% of an even .500 last year. Maybe not a "force" that other teams have to pitch around, but certainly a good enough hitter that he needs 400+ at bats this year.

Yes, the problem is that they need Fuk to play often enough and play well enough that they can deal him to make room for Colvin everyday. Just another example of how Hendry runs things with his cranium up his rectum.
