Oh no! the bullpen is getting so TIRED! this is a terrible way to start a season! We need complete games, and NOW! What is with these SITUATIONAL pitching changes?? Quade shouldn't be making so many changes, it is so taxing on the bullpen and on our jittery nerves! Oh dear! Wood has pitched 3 innings in 3 days in exactly the situations he was brought in to pitch! I don't think that has ever been done before in the history of baseball! They need to shut him down for a week at least to recover from all of this overuse!

Castro is a horrible SS and should never play that position again! Clearly, after the first weekend of the season, this 21 year old is destined to a life at 2nd base! You can't improve once you hit 20! He is what he is, and he can never get better! They can't allow their best prospect to develop and grow in a transition year! An immediate change must be made so we can win now!

Oh. My. God. Colvin needs to bat every single game for the rest of the year! If he doesn't, his chances of leading the league in strikeouts is in grave peril! And they need to get him on first base since he OBVIOUSLY is a GREAT first basemen just waiting to happen! It is so obvious that no professional manager has ever thought of it before! I am sure once he gets that big mitt on it will all be crystal clear to him, he will be scooping Castro's wild throws with ease! It is so OBVIOUS why can't they just see it???

Oh my, this season is starting so badly, i'm so upset with all of this, and it is only the first WEEK! Every win is significant! Every loss is a calamity! Where does the madness end??

PANIC! PANIC!! PANIC!!!

AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!

Lowest attendance at Wrigley since 2002

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs/po ... since-2002

It's probably a combination of losing 2 of 3 to Pittsburgh, 45 degree weather and the fact that they sucked to high heavens last year. Once they get into summer they'll be fine with school out and tourists, but this definitely is a bit of a story

The cubs' bats better be ready today. I can't see Cash going more than 5-6 unless he has an incredibly low pitch count. Wood will get this game off for sure after 3 straight days of pitching which leads us to this..........an imminent shark sighting. Mateo's work yesterday consisted of a 6 pitch out so maybe a combination of him and the lefties can get things set up for Marmol. Even Grabow can get in there. He looks better than last year and does have a history of being decent at some times during his career.

Haven't heard much on this Enright cat they are throwing today, but both Colvin and Fuk have hits off him from last year. If Pena can't go Colvin should be at first. I doubt he will be there though.

Marmol shouldn't be available today either. He's also pitched 3 straight days.

It could be a rough one today considering Cashner's first career start and our two best pen arms unavailable.

Enright is a similar prospect to Cash. A bit more accomplished, but still relatively raw with MLB experience.

Hill-Barney-Pitcher is uninspiring to say the least.

Assuming Soto needed a day and Quade going with defense at 2B to help out Cashner?

Welp, I'm going today... this should be a thing. Evidently I've been recruited to get a couple'a extra Starlin Castro bobbleheads, so I'll get my first dose of the wrigley field experience. I hope I don't run into any creepy members of the Ricketts family, as they're everywhere I turn lately.

Aside from Hill I don't mind this lineup. Hill should be the bullpen catcher though, not someone on a major league roster.

Byrd shouldn't be hitting 3rd. Should be interesting to how Colvin plays first. I agree with you on Hill he sucks and shouldnt be playing on a major league roster under any circumstances. Hopefully his finger falls off today and they have to send up Castillo.

I dont think he should hit third either. Who should though? I dont have an answer to that question. All in all that lineup isnt terrible if you drop Hill's carcass into a dumpster.

I am with Hank. People can bitch all they want about Byrd not being a 3 hitter and I agree. But there is no 3 hitter on this team.

Thats a fair point for today since Pena is hurt. When Pena is healthy I would like to have ARam hit 3rd and then Pena 4th and then Soto 5th with Byrd sliding into that 6th or 7th spot in the lineup.

I suppose I can live with that. That assumes ARam is the old ARam and not old bad ARam.

I imagine he will be somewhat bad. But hey it is a contract year and if anybody is a prototypical contract year player its ARam

Colvin doing his best Pena impression seeing 9 pitches before striking out with a RISP

Nice start for Cash so far.

Too bad he will probably have to be perfect and economical (to avoid a shark attack) in order to win as the offense is poised to put of a 1 spot today.

You crack me up UMN. This love/hate relationship you have with the Shark is quite amusing.

I think it might be more of a hate/hate scenario

I like that the Cub are making this Enright character work today seems like he is having trouble finding the zone.

The only thing I will love is when he is off the roster. He was good in college and in the minors because he threw hard, but he has the professional ceiling of a crawl space. He has gotten better at nothing since his first call up.

Seriously if he is not going to be fundamentally sound what the hell is this loser playing for. Put him on the bench and play Colvin everday. God Damn It.
