This team will soon be unraveling...

Quote:
CHICAGO -- Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose might have some explaining to do to backcourt mate Keith Bogans after Rose wished for another shooting guard Thursday night.

Rose was speaking to a room full of supporters for President Obama during a fundraiser on Navy Pier.

"We're kind of sad that Obama is doing everything right now, because we need a starting 2-guard for the playoffs," Rose said. "We'll have to deal with it."

It was obviously an homage to Obama's basketball skills rather than an indictment of Bogans, and the president returned the admiration by leading a chant of "M-V-P" for Rose.

Rose often has stated his affection for Obama, who is a former Illinois state senator from Chicago and an ardent Bulls fan. The president invited the Bulls to the White House shortly after Obama took office in early 2009.

Rose and teammate Joakim Noah, who also attended Thursday's fundraiser, were among a handful of NBA players invited to participate in a basketball game for troops at the White House last summer.

"It would be great to have a decent relationship with the president," Rose told ESPNChicago.com in December. "Especially somebody that's from [Chicago], and he's a good guy. It's not like I'm going to harass him or anything because that's not my character. But it would be cool to just hit up the president whenever you want to."

The Bulls open the playoffs on Saturday against the Indiana Pacers.

You've got to be superhumanly terrible if your teammate is calling you out in front of the President.

I couldn't imagine what opposing shooting guards say to Bogans.

I'm pretty sure Rose was making a joke....

rose was just playn, but he is correct..upgrading bogans is the first move that needs to be made.there is a reason he played less minutes than any starter who played the full season ever in the history of the league.

While a better option would be nice, the team certainly isn't dying for it. Besides...maybe he was referring to the perception of what the Bulls need.

Just a couple days before, he was talking about the Bulls being made up of only "winners." He always talks well about his teammates.

Your KC Johnson-esque defense of everything Bulls is getting tiresome.

I'm as a big a Bulls fan as anyone on this board, but even I wouldn't try to make a case for Keith Bogans' talent.

I'm aware of that. I've personally never heard anything said like that about a teammate though. Even in jest. I don't think it's anything to make a big deal of.

Am I wrong? I thought the joke was about how much Keith Bogans sucks.

I'm using the same cost vs production analysis that I use in my Deng vs Carmelo argument.

He is making $1.1M. Ideally, he would not be a starter on your team. But the production you get out of him, for $1.1M, is a value. Whine, bitch, complain, take shots...whatever you want to do, feel free...it is, after all, all you have. But the distractions don't make you any more correct.

Keith Bogans is not good. Just admit you don't watch much basketball outside of the Bulls and I'll be able to sympathize more with your points.

I haven't looked over every team, but these two players are def more cost effective than Bogans.

Eric Gordon
Career: 18.8ppg, 37%3PTFG
Salary: $3Million

Courtney Lee
Averaged 8ppg/40%3PTFG in 21mpg as one of Houston's key reserves.
Salary:$1million

...For the record. I'm only hostile to those who provoke it. Sorry if that was you at one point in time.

Both of these guys are on their rookie contracts aren't they? Understand what you are trying to suggest, but that is not a true comparison. Get me another 2 guard that is a free agent that you can sign for the same money and you have a better argument.

Like Bogans or not he has done a very serviceable job for the Bulls this year. I have no real complaints, and applaud his defense and toughness. That is going to be big in the playoffs.

And if our beloved Bulls lose in the playoffs he will take the most heat.

I'd rather have Ronnie Brewer as the starter, but that's just me. The disparity in talent between the two isn't big enough to have a meaningful debate about it.

We haven't played a game yet and you are ripping the 5th option of the starters? Cool your jets Jb. If the Bulls flame out it will most likely be because Boozer's defense remains poor and his offensive game is non existent, Rose cannot score, Noah is not effective and is left in games anyhow, or Deng gets hurt and the Bulls are exposed as not having a true 3 to replace his numbers.

You fucking idiot, those players have how many years in the league? They're both on their rookie deals still. Is that your best comparison? This is too easy.

So many stipulations. The cost effective analysis is short sighted anyway, because if the highest paid teams keep winning rings and achieving great success don't they have the most cost effective players?

For the record Bogans makes $1.6 this year. How about Anthony Morrow/$4mil? Wesley Mathews/$5mil? Shit, Rudy Fernandez might have the most cost effective game in the NBA making $1.2.

I don't understand you IMU. You've always got this huge hard on talk shit to me about everything NBA, and you obviously have a limited viewing of the league with some of the Mac-like theories you throw around. Granted, you want the attention, and that speaks to something deeper, but let's stray away from all that.

So right now you are arguing with me that a guy who averaged 4 POINTS A FUCKING GAME for an entire season as a starter is somehow a worthwhile talent? He is terrible. Take the blinders off. I see no way he starts next season.

It's cool Beni. You're bball opinions are never off point, but I'd have to bring a counter to the argument above. If all that bad did happen, it sure would be nice to have a SG who could drop 20/25 pts to keep the defense off Rose, help to get Boozer and Noah's defenders in foul trouble, and offset any post scoring deficiency the Bulls may experience. We as Bulls fans, don't have any of that.

 Let's just not even suggest that all of that happens as the Bull are toast no matter what. The only way I see Bogans being held responsible is if he is constantly left open and cannot knock down his 3's. At .388 since the all star break we are good. Given his regular minutes, if he goes 2-25 or so for a series we have a problem and he is a goat. FTR I don't see it happening.

Although I feel at least two of those things would have to come to light in order for the Bulls to fizzle out.
