One of the few times I have listened to North in the past year and was shocked when I heard this talk about "dem chat boards." I've got to say, I'm really disappointed with how this has been handled by that sponsor "Jerry" and Mike North.

Jerry, I'm sorry, but you came off like an idiot in that first letter. I would think you would have handled that letter from a concerned consumer of the show you advertise on a bit better, but instead you tell the guy basically North can say what he wants which makes it sound like you don't care what kinds of words get associated with your business. Genius idea Jerry. I suppose Tim Hardaway has bought drinks for you too. He's a great guy right? I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

As for North, I could see why he would be mad about what he might have been accussed of, but I think he's got to realize he doesn't even know the crap coming out of his mouth half the time. This isn't the first time he has said or been accussed of saying something racially insensitive. Just from the few times I've listened to his morning version of his show (which is by far his worst offering in his career) he does seem to use his, "I'm just a school boy don't know any better" attitude to get away saying things I've dropped my jaw listening to. I think instead of being an ass or trying to scare Brian he could have presented his case in a professional matter on air and played the tape for all of us to prove that isn't what he said. C'mon Mike, play the bit for all of us again. If you truly didn't say it, prove it to us all and move on. I don't listen enough to know if he did or not.

north and mitch are walking that fine line of free publicity. if this blows up in the media, the station and north will be everywhere. but if his comments are true, the backlash from the obama supporters could spell doom for north. mike north field, probably not.

I love how Mr. Conservative is always attacking "dem liberals" for making excuses and not taking accountability for their actions. Time to practice what you preach, Pappy.

what the hell is going on here? i went to sleep, drove into work, logged on to the message board, and ALL HELL HAS BROKEN LOOSE!

yesterday, paul agase invited me to call him personally. i brushed it off, stating that i work in a crowded office, and couldn't get away. but after reading this board about North threatening me with lawsuits, i needed to call paul.

so, he read me transcripts and made it quite clear that he did not endorse what mike said, and simply read the transcripts.

the main difference in the transcripts was that he used the word "talent" as opposed to "intelligence". to those who actually listened to the original broadcast, exchange those words and interpret the meaning for yourself.

i also made it clear to paul (and he agreed with me) that i specifically said that i didn't hear the actual broadcast and requested that they research it for themselves.

what should i be thinking, AFTER this conversation with Paul Agase?

That North is a real jerk. Sounds like The Score doesn't seem proud of Mike's statement, but wanted to let you know the word was talent. Because that's a whole lot better to say, ha ha.

SO because he is half white, he has the talent? There is no difference in my eyes. I called Paul but he wasnt able to take the call at the moment, so I will be calling him back.

TT, if for any reason North comes after you, let me know, my wife is a attorney who will gladly represent you. But according to her, he wouldnt have a case because slander/libel is a very hard case to prove.

I don't think it's the message board posts as much as the emails to sponsors with bad info.

from what i gather, North is threatening me for emailing his sponsors. after re-reading the original email to them, i really don't think i said anything sladerous.

here's the original email:

Dear Mike North Sponsors:

I was reading some message board posts on Redacted regarding The Mike North Morning Show. One thread alarmed me a bit. Can you please check the validity of the board's claims regarding recent racist statements made by Mr. North regarding Senator Barack Obama? I think, coupled with recent questionable remarks (i.e. Chinaman & homophobic comments), I believe it is in your best interest to research Mr. North's character and think long and hard whether or not you want to be associated with such a person.

For you information, I have copied below a letter I wrote to Mitch Rosen, program director at WSCR-AM. I expressed my concern and informed him that if Mr. North's comments were true, I would no longer listen to his station, nor would I continue to patronize any businesses that advertise during Mr. North's program. Did i mention his lawyers name, hell I dont even know if he has one. I was assuming that he had a lawyer, he or she would have to meet with their clients in their cell.

I just want everyone to be careful. Again, I emphasize that the likelihood of prevailing in a lawsuit is not the point. One does not benefit financially from spending thousands of dollars in legal fees to win a case.
