Belongs in the "No one cares thread," but I grew up with Matt Reynolds, the kid who just went 1-2-3 against the Cubs.

That would have been a double to the wall if Helton was still on the juice.

I have actually only been there 1 time in my entire life (not with him), and it was pretty recent. Nice place.

Between Mateo and Shark, I don't know who sucks more. You can never get them both to throw scoreless innings. Quade fucked this game up by not bunting with 1st and 2nd and no outs in the top of the 7th. You need Dumpster or Dewitt to bunt to move the runners over for Castro. He shouldn't be making mistakes like this with all that great experience I've been hearing about.

yeah this team is garbage, can't wait for the schedule to get tough. bullpen is 2 men deep,as predicted, pena signing was awful as i thought. this team is going to really suck..hendry is on borrowed time  what a joke of a 130 million dollar payroll in a weak ass division.

I've thought Hendry has been on borrowed time for the better part of four years. Unfortunately, he's the GM, full stop.
This is yet another poorly constructed roster. If you have a suspect pitching staff, you need to field the ball. The Cub have a suspect pitching staff and can't field the ball, not a good combination. I hold out hope they can stay competitive in a bad division.

you should be hoping for massive changes, 70 wins and empty seats = massive changes in october..80 wins in a weak division could mean hendry gets to finish his deal and fuck this team up even more.

If Byrd would get his head out of his ass and start hitting this game would have been won by the fifth. Castro and Barney are on constantly ahead of him and he does nothing. When they cool off he will start rippping the ball with nobody on. Typical Cub baseball.

Yeah, well, Byrd has no business being a number three hitter in the first place. So, we have that going for us, which sucks.

Yeah that is what I have been thinking as well. Put Aramis at the 3, and I would also like to see them move up Soriano to 4 or 5 for now. Might as well take advantage of when he is doing well.

Maybe

Castro
Barney
Aramis
Soriano
Pena
Byrd
Soto
Fuk
P

no you're absolutely right, sori is a different player this year. Not going after those big sweeping sliders down and away. And going oppo more often. He's having a decent start, and I like what I'm seeing early. I'd flip your order around a bit, I think I'd bat Fuk 5th this early, that'll change in June. Pena should be 8th and soto 6th.

Agree, they lost the game right there. Not only did he fuck up by not keeping Dempster in to sacrifice, fuckhead DeWitt works a 3 and 1 count then pops up to short left field by swinging at a pitch off the outside corner he couldnt have hit hard anyway. Pena is useless so far and oh yeah, someone might want to remind Lil Danny Bernstein that so far Matt Garza blows, I dont care what fucking metric he's using to say he hasnt pitched that bad.

I really don't see Sharks value but if he's good for a couple outs in an inning that's great but I cannot see him pitching more than 1.0 innings. Bringing him back for more was asking for trouble.

Soriano is still chasing a fair amount of low and away breaking pitches.

He isn't swinging through as many fastballs.

I have to disagree but I have only watched about 6 or 7 of these games. he's looking more patient, sitting back on breaking pitches and swinging less at the low and away slider.
Either way he's making meaningful contact and probably shouldn't be batting 7th or 8th.

true he is, and he will disappear for weeks at a time, leave that slug down in the order

If he does start hitting bad then you can easily move him back down. My point is that while he is doing well he needs to be higher in the order.

Yeah exactly. Why not? It's not like you're moving him between leadoff and 5th. His leadoff days are done, D-O-N-E Done unless something drastic happens to both Barney and Castro. Thats your 1, 2 for the season.

maybe he's hitting better because he's lower in the order.

He's hitting better because he's not swinging at the crap he's been swinging at the last couple years. Is that because he's lower? I think that's debatable.

well he is probably seeing different pitches, lower in the order. and there's not as much pressure on him as there is at the top of the order.

Pena has a great glove but is a .230 bat. Dead pull and no power. 7 or 8 hole hitter.

Only reason he is on the roster is he is out of options. Big money to blow. Another Hendry fuck up that they dont wanna swallow. Trot him out and hope he is good or trade bait for another pricey shitfest. LOL. Cub baseball at its finest.
