When? They're still waiting for it to start from last year too.

And batted .196
I don't know, I guess I don't value a guy that much who can pretty much hit ONLY homers and who hasn't hit one yet.
What good is power when you're leaving as many men on base as he has been. Christ his splits with RISP is miserable. .143 this year so far. that's fucked up.

Interesting statistic...
Pena is 18th on on a list of guys with the Fewest career HR's for players with minimum of a 40 HR season.
A few of these guys won't be on this list long. mark Reynolds at #2, Adrian Gonzales at #4, Prince Fielder at #9.
Some interesting names on this list...
Todd Huntley (202HR)
Phil Nevin (208 HR)

yeah pena is a scrub, i have said from day 1 it was an awful signing, made zero sense, like rfdc's posts. he is going to be 33 in a couple weeks, and that is a fake 33 so probably 35-36.

Do you guys think that a guy with Fielders size will be able to play for a normal career? Those knees can't hold up til he's 35.
And Pujols... cmon man. He ain't going no where.

i don't have much faith in colvin being an everyday player, but this season had no hope from day 1 ..so may as well evaluate young players. now i say colvin at first base for 2 reasons..he sucks in the outfield and 1st base is the easiest position on the diamond, 1st base is his only option. i don't worry about prince's body breaking down yet , he is still real young and we know his real age, and 1st base is as easy at it gets. i worry more about pujol's getting caught with peds and falling off the map halfway through a huge contract.

I'm worried about Fielder eating his way through half of Chicago and having more heart attacks than the Chris Farley character on the SuperFans. He is too large and in charge to sign a long term deal.

I wish Pena would start hitting. His biggest value to this team is to be decent and then get traded at the deadline for a prospect.

I am also thinking that trading Marmol while his upside is huge might be a good idea. The shelf life on a closer that throws that violently is not long. He will have a new UCL and probably be a shell of himself by the time this team is truly ready to compete in the post season. I would sell high on him to a contender for 2 legit high end prospects.

I really dont get the idea of trading Marmol. This team may be closer than people think. What happens if he gets traded for a Felix Pie or Corey Patterson? Weren't they both legit high end prospects....

They may be close to being competitive, but not close to contending. I am also talking about a prospect that is in AA or AAA and is almost ready and a someone who is already on a big league team.

He only eats horseshit? That seems like it may cause an issue down the road.

I thought he went vegetarian 2 or 3 years ago and then started a season off not that well and started eating meat again on a limited schedule.
