I think it's acceptable when one player with a particular first name becomes more recognizable than other players with that name. Case in point: there were other "Michaels" in the NBA when Jordan played, but when you said Michael (or Mike) everybody knew you were talking about Jordan.

I think Rose is by far the most popular "Derrick" in basketball (probably in all of sports) right now.

I just think it sounds small townish, unprofessional when hosts of sports talk shows constantly refer to players by their first names. Probably stems from me hearing too much of Funk's radio pbp during the Jordan years. Always: "Michael to Scottie to Horace back to Michael ... "

I know. It's not like you hear hosts in LA saying Kobe. And I'm sure they never said Patrick on WFAN.

The great players earn first name basis. Derrick was D-Rose mid way through December. Things change. Plus what if Jason knows the guy on a personal level? A la Laurence Holmes and Lance Briggs' awesome relationship.

That whole last possession was screwed from the start. The Bulls should have just burned their last timeout and reset with something different.

I really didn't like the last defensive play either. Korver should have been subbed for Brewer. Instead, they left him in, and he played horrible D on Dunlevey, and he was able to get to the line and make it a 3 point game.

The Pacers may have won this game, but it really has to feel like a loss to them. They have zero momentum going into game 5 and nearly blew a 18 point lead with only a few minutes left. This series is over on Tuesday.

With the Heat loss today this series needs to end Tuesday. The Bulls need to figure their shit out, slap Boozer around, and put this fucker away early.

It's time that the Bulls resemble the team that won 62 games, Country, claiming both home court advantage & the NBA's best record. The Pacers may have outplayed the Bulls so far in this series, but enough is enough!

Frank Vogel will probably get the interim tag removed as the Pacers' head coach, but it's time for the Bulls to go out there and kick their ass tomorrow in Game 5! The sooner this series ends, the better. It'll help Derrick Rose's sore ankle, and the rest prepares for the Bulls for a date in the Eastern Conference Semifinals with the Atlanta Hawks in Round 2. I was pissed when Granger said basically the Bulls are one-dimensional, you stop Rose, you beat them.

He's basically right, Boozer hasn't done shit and the rest of the team tends to watch Rose play rather than play with the intensity that he does. With this ankle sprain, the potential for a game 6 looms large unless the rest of the team plays like they did in the regular season. The Bulls need to come out tonight and throw the kitchen sink at these pukes and try to give some rest to D-Rose, if that's possible.

I hope this doesn't result in a quick exit from the playoffs after the team ended the season as the NBA's best.
