Imaginary radio. That was never said.

The adage is that the higher seeds in the NBA are more likely to be rewarded through their higher seed.

The fact is in a 7 game series, regardless of seeding, the better team will win. It's clearly Memphis.

Jesus.

Someone tell Memphis they're not supposed to play like this.

Memphis won't get past the next round, but it's damn fun to watch a young, motivated, hungry team knock off an old, grizzled, formerly dominant team who's in its twilight years.

This is how the Bulls would've looked in the '99 playoffs had that team been kept together one more year.

This is definitely a something... So the only #1 seeds to be bounced in the 1st round have been Seattle (94), Dallas (06), and unless a miracle happens San Antonio (11)...

It's peculiar an Eastern Conference #1 has never lost in the 1st round.

Let's not get carried away Kid.

I am enjoying the Memphis win as well. Nice to see the Spur get kicked.

It actually did, in '99 (the lockout season). The #8 Knicks beat the #1 Heat in the first round. There's an obvious asterisk over that one though.

Yeah that totally slipped my mind. That season was such a blur. Good memory OKC.

I don't fault you for not remembering '99. Most people don't. I really wish I didn't...that was some of the worst NBA ball I've ever seen (even from the good teams). No training camp meant everybody was out of shape and not ready to play.

I actually try to block out 1999 through 2003. That was easily the lowest period in the history of the league. Yet, for some reason I still watched.

+1

I still dislike Larry Brown to this day. 1999 through early 2003 was total identity crisis time for the league. It was clear where the league was headed once the draft of LBJ, Melo, and Wade happened. There were some fun memories though if you were a true NBA junkie. Shaq in his prime. 2-3 years of a relevant and exciting Jason Williams. Vince Carter non stop high lights. Tim Duncan's ascension. Tracy McGrady in the MVP debate. Nash and Dirk. I'm sure I'm forgetting things.

I'd say yes. I forgot about those Sacramento teams. Those Western Conference playoff series were awesome. That was back when the West was unfairly superior to the East.

One topic that always comes up when I'm talking to my brother about that era is, "Remember Steve Francis?"

I just looked at the stats. He put up a steady 20,6,6 as a PG from 1999 through 2003. Averaged 7rpg in 01-02 season. I remember him at Maryland. In one season he went from out of nowhere to top 5 pick quicker than any college player I've seen.

Memphis better finish this thing in game 6, they will not win a game 7.

He's full of shit. Just trying to make himself look gritty and tough for the cameras.

Hopefully Duncan retires after this season because this is brutal. In a must win game for the Spurs, he scores 13 points, all coming in the first half.

I just want to remind everyone who was on the Memphis bandwagon before anyone this year...

8. Memphis
Look for Memphis to make a small leap this year to a consistent playoff participant.
