Carlos Boozer has turf toe

CHICAGO -- Chicago Bulls power forward Carlos Boozer suffered a turf toe injury to his right big toe during the second quarter of a 116-89 victory over the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 on Tuesday.

X-rays taken after the game were negative, and he will be re-evaluated by Bulls team doctors on Wednesday.

"I just went up for a shot, the one I made in the second quarter, early in the second quarter, and felt a pop," Boozer said after the game. "I'm just going to get it right. It's a good thing we got some time before the next [series]."

Boozer's injury puts a cap on a rough series for the Bulls' prized free agent acquisition. He spent a majority of the series in foul trouble, and managed just two points in over 15 minutes on Tuesday night.

When asked what Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau can do to get him back in rhythm offensively, Boozer said: "We'll have to see who we're playing. See what the matchups look like. And we'll take care of that later. That's four or five or six days away."

Game 1 of the Bulls Eastern Conference semifinal series against either the Atlanta Hawks or Orlando Magic is set for Monday night at the United Center.

Boozer admitted that he is dealing with some frustration due to his recent poor play.

"Everybody get frustrated a little bit," he said. "But the biggest thing about us is we hold together as a group of guys, and we have one goal in mind, to win. And no matter what happens, as long as we win, that's all that matters."

I would much rather have Taj out there scoring 8-10 points, and playing tough D for 40 minutes. Boozer's weak layup attempts are not going to win a series, defense is.

How about Luol Deng's game, guys? Excellent in every facet. When he is on, the Bulls win. Integral.

But then add defensive prowess and the ability to hit three's as a much better rate. Oh, and not shoot 41%. Also, a bunch of assists and steals.
