Can somebody tell me why this is such a big fucking deal over here? They aren't even actual royalty......they're just rich and come from a family that is celebrities for.....nothing? Sorta like Kardashians or Hiltons over here? Will there be this much coverage when Paris gets married?

We didn't cover Chelsea Clinton's marriage live - and her parents have/had actual power.....

They are estimating anywhere from 1.4-3 billion people watch/watching ( is it still going on?) this shit today. I'm speechless.

People realize that it's not 1350 and the King/Queen of England has absolutely no authority?

I think it was an even bigger deal for Princess Diana in the 80's

Royal wedding is every little girls dream I guess.

I am scratching my head over this as well. Walking around the cube farms I
saw at least 3 women looking at pictures online. Must be a chick thing. This
Prince William guy seems ok and he pulled in some pretty hot wool but just
seems like a huge expense for nothing. Do the taxpayers foot the bill for this?

This is actually the funny thing. People don't realize that. It's completely asinine.

Because people yearn to be ruled by an iron-fisted monarch again. To be told what to do like a child. To not have to think for themselves.

Or because they're super burrito.

Here's another thing: London is what....5-6 hours ahead of us? Who the hell gets married at like 9 am on a Friday? Did they get the hall for half price that way?

It's refreshing to see people in other countries be celebrity crazed idiots.

So last night, we had one thing recording on dvr, so we were in the dreaded "can't change the channel" mode where anything you do is lost if you change the channel.

My wife wanted to watch some show about the wedding on ABC. I said, no, I want to watch the NFL draft. I then started to come up with my reasoning why I needed to watch the NFL draft, and I realized that there was no good reason why the NFL draft is more important than the royal wedding. So, we flipped back and forth between the two. I'm lucky that my wife is a sports fan too but I found it amusing that I was just as guilty of watching something as stupid as the royal wedding.

You could extend this thinking even further to come to the conclusion that sports are basically just a huge waste of time and most people spend way too much time on them. Maybe we should all follow Darksides lead and quit the board and find more important things. This royal wedding has taught us all a valuable lesson. We are losers.

Yes

It amazed me last night. I went out to the bar to have dinner and catch a little of the draft. They made mention of the "figure head" status that the royal family has. Some lady sitting there actually asked the question of "What does figurehead mean? The royal family is in charge, right?"

When I got home, I asked a few friends that I knew were far more interested in this thing than is actually healthy, and all of them respond with some variation of the above.

I'm going to be the first one to admit that I didn't even know this thing was happening until last night, but by that same regard, it doesn't mean a damn thing to me, so I don't really care.

It's a dual tuner dvr, but one of the tuners was being used on another show which meant I could only watch the show on the wedding or the NFL draft and I didn't feel like going to another room to watch. I only have two televisions setup in the main room during football season.

Wow, I would have thought Brick had a much stronger pimp hand. Dang, I am very disappointed.

I just need to stay off facebook today. 90% of the posts by females are about this wedding.

And seriously, stop going after the guy because he is losing his hair. Speaking as someone who will one day lose the battle to male pattern baldness, it's not his fault

If it was a Holiday here today like it is in Britain I'd be watching it.

Not sure if it was mentioned yet, but Bob Brenly was ripping the Royal Wedding viewers...based on soundbites heard just now on W&S.

Barkley was pretty funny about the whole thing on TNT late last night after the Mavs game.....they had some countdown clock til you could watch the coverage and they had Kenny and Charles dress up but then Charles is like anyone who stays up to watch this garbage is a dumbass

If you went to my Facebook page last night, there's a classic rocker from Rob Halford & Judas Priest that expressed my own feelings towards the spectacle known as the Royal Wedding. It wasn't worth my time...
