Per wxrt.radio.com;

Cubs Offer Beer & Hot Dog Discounts In Wrigley Field Bleachers.

In the face of sagging attendance, the Chicago Cubs are offering $3 beer and $1 hot dog days, plus free t-shirts for select game throughout the spring!

Starting May 10, every Tuesday beer will cost $3, each Wednesday hot dogs will cost $1 and each Monday beginning the 17th bleacher ticket-holders will receive a free Ron Santo T-shirt with the slogan, “PASS10N.”

The Wrigley bleachers are already a party, what’s cheap beer going to do? Tell us in the comments section below!

Not sure how they report games for attendance (Tickets sold), but I looked at Sundays game v Dodgers and saw they box has Attendance at 32,000.

I was at the game and there was not close to 32,000! upper deck hardly filled and my section in 139 was maybe 50% filled.

No doubt a different atmosphere is creeping in and it is not a good one.

Winning will solve it.

Big Fan...
Reality check...
Ricketts has overpriced the tickets for the product that Major League Baseball puts on the field...unless you like watching the same guys like Corey Patterson, Jack Cust, Jerry Hairston, Jr. and Ross Gload bouncing from team to team.
All of these guys hitting in the high .100s and low .200s is just thrilling.
Guys that play defense worse than high school players is fascinating.....

Ricketts is about REVENUE.....Well....lower the price of BEER Period.....Make the BEER in Wrigley Field CHEAPER than the beer in Murphy's Bleachers, Bernie's and the rest of the bars that make up the "Experience". Open the gates an hour earlier.
Ricketts owes NOTHING to the bars and we all know the "Experience" has been getting BLOTTO since the arrival of Harry Caray...just like it was in Sox Park when Harry was there.

Well, they have been kinda shitty and I have been told Sox fans don't come out unless the team is playing well?

Why not put some more comfortable seats out there?

I do find it funny though, that they're giving away t-shirts when half the frat boys out there go t0pless. I think they're trying to tell them something.

yes on TV the stadium looks unbelievably empty...bottom line though, they presold a lot of tickets...if theyve presold that many for April, they likely have pre-sold just as many if not more for the summer games (Sunday games in the summer arent selling out now, but they will in the summer)...so I dont quite get the worries of sagging attendance when youve sold that many

still amazes me how many people continue to feed the high prices...im glad some people have come to their senses...i hope it stays that way

sagging attendance today = less ticket buyers tomorrow

They're probably worried that if attendance begins to sag now, that when next season comes around people will think twice before getting tickets.

"Hi my name is tom ricketts. My family owns the cubs and we want to invite you to wrigley field to enjoy our national pastime at one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country. Make sure to come out early and have a refreshment at our brand new state of the art drinking trough, the captain morgan club. or perhaps come inside the stadium to catch batting practice. don't forget to pick up a souvenir or six at one of our overpriced sports shops, inside the ballpark. and remember cubs baseball is not just a game, its a way of life. which will be destroyed if you don't talk the new mayor and governor into giving my family the $400 million we need to fix up our piece of shit falling-down, quaint ballpark. we aren't billionaires anymore cause we overpaid for this laughable team and rickety old, picturesque ballpark. Just give me my fucking money and I will only raise ticket prices 10% every year instead of 15-30%. reinsdork got his money know give me mine already. oh, and thanks for coming to our shitty ice rink we had over the winter.

You think they don't make money on selling beer for $3 or Hotdogs for $1?

Do you only purchase these items at sporting events? A profit on a $3 beer is probably around $2.75.

mcbrides can probably help us out a little more on this, but I'll bet it is even more than that (talking draft beer). Especially when they are probably buying an obscene number of kegs each time from the distributor. I bet the Cubs pay about 10 cents or less for each draft.

If hot dogs cost a dollar, I buy 5 at a time, but only because they are good for my heart.

they r still losing the money that they would have made selling it at regular price of $6-7 for a beer and $4 for a hot dog

I'm sure they've crunched the numbers about this. Some people refuse to buy anything at a ballgame due to the inflated prices, if this leads to higher concession sales, and gets people in that would normally drink at Murphy's, Cubby Bear, etc, then it could work.

42,000 people drinking $3 beer and hot dogs is better than 20,000 people drinking $6 beers and not eating.
