Why doesn't Miller Light just own the fact that they are a chick beer? Calling it "manly" doesn't make it so.

There is nothing manly about drinking light beer.

A "manly" beer has a higher IBU rating than 8, such as Miller Lite. Budweiser is 11. Two Brothers Hop Juice is 100.

I think guys should drink whatever they want to. Having a Mike's Hard Lemonade is one thing, but if its Miller Lite, Coors Light, etc so be it. Who really cares if its a light beer or some microbrew? I generally only drink light beers. I don't buy Miller Lite but if thats whats in the kegs or on special or readily available (i.e. Sox game) I'll drink it.

Yeah, I get that. Hell, at my worst, I would've drank Sterno filtered through a piece of white bread if that was all that was available. :D

I like good old American macrobrews. If that makes me a savage, so be it.

Its the gigantic marketing campaign of miller lite that is annoying. Its not good beer they are making so stop marketing it that way. Its cheap shit that is mass produced and thats fine if people want to drink it but I don't want to hear about how they triple hop brew it and use the finest ingredients. Keith Stone gets it. You don't hear him talking about the amazing brewing process. You get him strutting around town with his case saving cats from trees and shit.

Freshman year of college - all we drank was Red Dog. Other than being cheap beer, I know somebody else will know why.

From Wikipedia:

Red Dog is a beer produced by the Miller Brewing Company and is part of their Plank Road Brewery Family. The beer contains 5.00% Alcohol by volume[3]. Red Dog was introduced in 1994 and is brewed with two barley malts and five varieties of American hops.[1] "Plank Road Brewery" was the name of Frederick Miller's first brewhouse in the 19th century. The Plank Road name was resurrected in the 1990s to sell Icehouse and Red Dog as a more premium beer under a different name, so as not to directly associate them with Miller Brewing. Although popular during the mid-to-late 1990s, Red Dog faded into near-obscurity after the turn of the 21st century. However, since 2005 it has been making a comeback of sorts, returning to stores in a current price segment between Miller High Life and Milwaukee's Best.[4]

Getting drunk on Icehouse makes people angry. I blame Icehouse for most of my fights with girlfriends.

Someone needs to edit that to mention that the Red Dog logo is actually a guy eating pussy.

That's like being ranked between John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy on the list of worst mass murderers.

I once ran into a shirtless drunken man outside of a liquor store in West Lafayette, might have been Brick for all I know. He asked us to buy him some beer because he didnt have a shirt or shoes on. We obliged and got him his High Life, as we were giving him the beer we noticed he also had a tattoo of the high life logo on his chest (the woman sitting on the moon). When we pointed it out, he started shouting "That's one lady that'll never leave you". We left the premises post haste.

I'm not trying to criticize anybody for what they drink. I consume Budweiser, Miller Low Life, and Pabst Blue Ribbon, as well as the craft brews that I enjoy so much. Neither my wallet, nor my liver, can afford to drink only heady beers.

My criticism is directed at the beer companies, and their horrible ad campaigns. When I think of what a "manly" beer should be, Miller Lite, or any light beer for that matter, would not be in the team photo. As a beer snob, I reject their claims of "manliness" or "triple hops brewed", or whatever the phrase of the week is.

the most annoying thing about the "man up" commercials is that the guys don't outwardly say "i don't want a miller lite" they just say "i don't care". so if the high and mighty sanctimonious woman is going to give them the shitty beer, isn't the blame on her?

I get pissed that a bartender is judging in the first place. Screw you, let the man drink what he wants! Even if he has on skinny jeans, who the hell is she to judge.
