In recent years, Gus Johnson had become quite a fan favorite with his exciting PBP calls on both NFL Football & NCAA Basketball on CBS Sports. He had also landed a prime gig as one of the signature voices of Big Ten Basketball on the FOX-owned Big Ten Network each of the last 2 years. While Gus continues to call hoops on BTN, he's over & out with CBS, according to SI.com's Richard Deutsch.

Johnson, who was reportedly on NFL Network's wish list to replace Bob "In Space" Papa on its new look, new sound of "Thursday Night Football", couldn't agree to terms on a new deal with CBS and will be leaving after 16 years. The news of Johnson's end at CBS comes just hours after NFLN announced the hiring of ESPN/ABC golden voice Brad Nessler as its new "THNF" voice with new analyst, the rising Mike Mayock this season.

As for what Gus will do next, he's scheduled to call the Manny Pacquiao/Shane Mosley Showtime PPV fight from Las Vegas Saturday night. There's also talk about Gus joining FOX Sports, possibly as a PBP on its upcoming Pac-12 broadcasts. The soon-to-be renamed conference signed a $3 billion, 12-year contract with FOX & ESPN to broadcast 44 regular-season college football games, 68 regular-season basketball games, and will alternate broadcasting the Pac-12 football title game & men's college basketball tournament. It also remains to be seen if Gus and his colorful calls would also surface on the "NFL on FOX" as well. Stay tuned on this one.

In my opinoin, this is a shocker, the way some people talk about Gus, he should be the number 1 guy.

Not one of my top guys, but it would be a steal if Fox gets him and I think they will and should be on the NFL games.

If Gus goes to Fox and I will say he will, does Fox get rid of another person talked about in Dick Stocton. Just looking at the Week 17 broadcast pairings, could put Gus Johnson with Charles Davis.

Dick Stockton was behind the mic last night, Reents, calling the triple OT marathon between the Thunder & Grizzlies last night and into early this morning in Memphis with the Donald Trump-looking Mike Fratello & sideline reporter Marty Snider, who I believe will be on TNT's upcoming NASCAR crew when they take over the Sprint Cup series next month starting at Pocono. Why Dick continues to get work is beyond me...His best days are clearly in the scrapbook.

Now, as for Gus Johnson, I think the plan for him at FOX is to call Pac-12 football & basketball on their network, and I wouldn't be shocked if he gets some "NFL on FOX" assignments, quite possibly with Charles Davis, who is one of the rising analysts in the biz besides his NFL Network teammate in Mike Mayock.

I like Gus calling NFL games but I would also love to hear him call NBA games as well

Phil, have you seen what Fratello looks like? He and The Donald have the same bad hairpiece!
