Dusty is still an awful manager but a nice enough guy to fall into gigs like this. That being said.....

5/6 Volquez (2-1) Garza (1-3)
5/7 Arroyo (3-3) Coleman (1-2)
5/8 Cueto (0-0) Dempster (1-3)

The reds haven't impressed me much this year so far. I think they have been over achieving and the Cubs could win all three as long as the starters don't suck. I am excited that Pena has been hitting the ball well and will now be in a hitters park. I also don't give a fuck that there is another similar topic that was created by a reds fan. Go Cubs.

Support this one, not the one started by the Outlander.

Not sure why out of all 3 starters I fear Arroyo the most.

In the other thread NSJ had his stats about how he dominates the Cub. Whatever. He can go have a who looks more like a gay pirate contest with Smardzjzjzjia for all I care. I will say it is nice to be playing a team thats not in the NL West anyway.

Untrue. All I said was that good dolphin doesn't even consider him an "average" pitcher.

He does look like a giant burrito. Too bad he doesn't have his cute corn rows anymore. There is just something about that ridiculous leg swing of his that is incredibly annoying to watch.

He finally got Soriano moved up, but it may be too late. His hot streak may be nearing its end. Hell, put Barney 3rd with Castro leading off and Fuk 2nd.

Does Quade pull his lineup out of a hat?? Has he ever used the same lineup 2 days in a row?? Is this just trying to find something that works or is he constantly second guessing himself?

Agree. And Soto 8th?

Soto isn't a bad 8th hitter he has a good idea of what the strike zone is and won't chase pitches to get an easy out with the pitcher coming up.

There appears to be no logic at all.

He has a little too much pop for me to want him hitting 8th. Much rather have a Barney type down there.

At least with his lineups you dont have to be mad for too long.

Barney is the straw that stirs the drink with this lineup. No reason not to have him and Castro hitting some combination of 1 and 2. Even with Soto's pop he is still hitting what .230?

I'm just projecting him based on his stats last year mostly. It's the constant problem of lots of players who could hit 3 or 4 spots, but not really suited for any of them

Had to edit my post. I believe Barney and Castro are perfect at the top of the order. The problem is that beyond those two guys everybody on this Cubs team should probably be a 6 or 7 hitter in a real lineup.

At least for the next couple weeks until the cooldown is in full effect for Fuk/Soriano, I wouldn't be against a

Castro
Barney
Fukudome
Ramirez
Pena
Soriano
Soto
Byrd
Garza

Sure why not.....I would be happy if Quade would put the same lineup out there 2 days in a row at this point

At first glance it looks bad but realizing that you have to get what you can while you can it makes sense for the time being.

i like that line up and would like to see that for a couple weeks, and see what happens.

Really you could slide Colvin in for Fuk interchangeably in that as well and I wouldn't object

Not until he gets out of his Neil Funk to start the year. But once Fuk inevitably starts to collapse as the weather warms then you can put Colvin there probably.

mr clean is an idiot for hitting castro third, especially when he is slumping. the kid hits better leading off. he is not a power hitter, why bat him third? after this homestand, the cubs will be in last place. hendry and q-ball should both be gone after this season.
