This was definitely a case of offensively pissing away a game. There were some awful Ab's with runners in scoring position and less that 2 outs today.

Say what you want about some of the lineups Quade has put out there this year and the lack of anything resembling a 3 hole hitter......The reigning World Series Champions batted Mike Fucking Fontenot in the 3 hole tonight.

Not a good start to the game today....but nice pitching to get out of that lead off man on 2nd and no outs situation.

That was a very uninspiring bottom of the first there. If Aram actually decided to run hard he may have made that a play at first, but of course when a veteran of his stature doesn't get a ball out of the infield he concedes the out and jogs to first.

Dewitt!!!  Figures he would produce in this game. I still can not understand why the Cubs can not hit this goofy ass pitcher.

Coleman is dealing today. Very impressive. Striking out Votto and making him look bad is no easy task, but he has done it twice.

Fucking Dusty is going to end up winning again. He is almost worse than Lovie for falling into wins.

That last AB by Colvin wasn't bad, but he needs to go down to Iowa and get AB's every day to figure this out. Too bad the guy running the team is a fucking moron and won't do it.

Well...Hendry's 5th fucking starter is in the game in relief now which hopefully means he will never start again.

Nice. Victory stolen from the jaws of defeat.

Does that even make sense? Screw it. Cubs win

Is that the rule, if the ball touched the glove and then goes in the stands its not a ground rule double?

I thought Quade was arguing that the umps could reward Dewitt home plate if it was obvious he was going to score. I remember it happened against the Sox last year.

Now that I think about it, what does it matter if the ball touched the glove or not, the ball is still out of play, if its not a ground rule double then what, you let Baker run around the bases like its little league?

Colvin is awful. That at bat in the 9th, he swung at pitches in the dirt at least twice. Nice rally though. Would be nice if the Cubs more leads, they easily have the best closer in the divison.

Colvin is reminding me of Corey Patterson, some power but no concept of the stirke zone and swings and misses way too often. Maybe a starter on bad teams but a fourth outfielder on good teams.

Patterson, Pie, Colvin, can a Cub outfield prospect come up with a idea about the strike zone.

Pena looks way more comfortable at the plate the last few games. hopefully that means he can get that average up and keep hitting bombs.

it was great to see McCarver and Thom comment on how the Cubs have always had trouble developing good offensive players (and even just young star talent in general)...nothing new there, but nice to see a national crew highlight a glaringly weird problem

No Barney today? The good young players don't need days off. I could see it if they were in a stretch of 25 straight games, but they had a day off last week and will have a day off this week.

I think he is pretty wise giving guys days off now and throughout the season.

You would be the guy bitching later in the season if these guys start to tire out saying they should have been given some days off earlier in the year to help keep them fresh.

Plus you have to give your bench players chances to get some at bats. If they just sit on the bench and get an occasional pinch hitting opportunity they are going to brutal.

They just had thursday off and will have next thursday off. Give old man aram the day off and keep the youth in the lineup. Give them a rest when its 90 out everyday and they are in the middle of a 20 game grind.

 Love the guy in the stands ringing up Votto as he walks back to the dugout.

Hopefully Votto continues to struggle through at least the end of this game.
