I believe they're off tomorrow. No reason to see Baker today.

Only on windups then? In the second he definately did not do out of the stretch.

Maybe. He clearly did it that entire inning but it was entirely out of the windup.

What the hell was Dempster doing going on contact? Needs to be smarter than that.

I will gladly take the out, but what the hell kind of running effort was that by Phillips? Hasn't he been benched in the past for dogging it like that?

I had to go back and re-watch it. It didn't look nearly as bad as I thought upon first seeing it. He was running hard until the ball got there. It was him throwing the air brakes on instead of running through the base that made it look weird. This game is pretty boring if I am analyzing the running effort of Phillips.

Where's the wind? At least they are starting to get some better swings off Cueto. 75 pitches for him in 4 innings on his first big league start of the year. Dusty will probably let him pitch a 140 pitch CG.

Isn't there some board member who claims to attend Cubs games in Expos gear?

Castro is going for the Golden Sombrero of weak ground balls to 3rd base.

I can't believe he finally figured it out. He was at the very end of his rope. It is also good to see him being effective without a 20 plus pitch inning. I still can't believe it. He gave no indication that he was evolving as a major league pitcher.

Lol, Spiegel and Bernsie say he hits everything hard, I don't think he has hit anything hard in over a week. Quade should have never started bouncing him around in the order.

It has been curious to say the least. When they first started talking about Castro last year they kept talking about how slow they wanted to take it with him. Dont want to rush him and have another failed prospect. This year it has basically been "Fuck it, lets do whatever the hell we want with the guy"

It's kind of odd to see Starlin bouncing around the order while Darwin Barney has evidently cemented the 2-hole like a straight man at a gay bar.

Seriously, can you decide what you wanna do with the kid and have him do it? If you want him to bat leadoff and hit his way on base and maybe develop a baserunning game, do that. If you think he's going to develop ~20+ HR power someday and you want him to drive in runs, put him in the 3-hole.... lord knows it'd still be better than the Marlon Byrd experience.

I've gotten the impression that Quade has no idea what to do with the kid... early on he was hitting so well he couldn't figure out where to maximize his output, and now that he's tanking so badly he has no idea where to put him in order to get him rolling again... PROTIP: it's not the bench.

Wow. I saw a little bit of the replays on the Comcast postgame show. Very ugly. This is kind of how Sox fans felt during that Liriano no-no. Quade has to be right in saying that was rock bottom, I don't know how a team could play any worse during a game.
