Nice "inadvertent whistle" also.

Game was already over by that point.

IMO, the game ended once Derrick's 7-point explosion was over and he decided to go foul-hunting.

I dunno, that was potentially a five point swing with over two minutes left.

Wasn't it a 6 point game when Salvatore decided that he didn't mean to call a foul on Rose's 3? Hardly game over.

Bulls are better. To think otherwise is insane.

Don't look at it in terms of shot percentages. Look at it in terms of quality looks. Atlanta got way more quality looks tonight because Josh Smith killed them in the paint. If he's gonna do that, you can't stay home on the shooters. Atlanta has too many outside threats. When their inside game is going like it was tonight, you can't stop them.

This was similar to the regular season game where Al Horford went crazy on them. Josh Smith is better than any of the Bulls' bigs.

Exactly. The Bulls beat themselves in these situations. Happens every time with the looking around at each other , etc. Young team enters brain fart mode.

And I have maybe bitched about refs 2-3 times in my life, not my M.O., but this was terrible tonight.

The game was over because it was clear that the Bulls had no answer other than Rose driving the lane into 3 defenders looking for a whistle. No one else on the Bulls were even looking to take a shot.

The Hawks are better than the Pacers but not better than the Bulls. Chicago will win back home and be up 3-2. This team is in unchartered territory and will crap the bed every now and then. I fully expect them to win in six.

Smith plays like that 1 out of every 4-5 games. He won't do it again. He will resume his normal lazy ass self and Bulls will win.

Maybe. But being down 3 doesn't scream game over. You don't know what happens from that point either.

Oh well. Series tied. Bulls still fine. Hope for Celtics win tomorrow.

The fact the Hawks didn't coast into their seeding and the Bulls played hard throughout the season. Coach Thibs is not perfect and the team will fuck up now and again. That said, the Bulls will win at home and back in the Dirty South.

The fact that Rose has to shoot 30+ shots in a game makes me want to punch a baby.

Well, see that's getting back to my point.

The Bulls played almost 48 minutes of commendable defense, but when it came down to it they could not put the ball in the basket. I don't feel comfortable with what I'm seeing offensively and I haven't for awhile. Again, the points have to come from somewhere.

Defensively, Atlanta knew they didn't even have to account for anyone other than Rose. To me, that's a little unnerving and these are the types of games where I find myself wondering where the hell Luol Deng was.

Yep. Deng needs to step up in order for them to advance. Ditto Korver. They should make it beyond ATL but I see problems against Miami. I know they can beat Boston.

Deng started off great... for about 3 minutes in the first quarter. He did play unbelievable defense once again, however. This game... as poorly as the Bulls shot overall... was still not as horrible as it may have seemed. If Korver hits two of his shots and Rose hits a couple more, this game becomes a 10 point win for the good guys. I know that is easy for me to say, and painfully obvious; however we just shot horrible today all game.

Just another challenge for Rose -- he's answered it so far each time this season.
Josh Smith. Please -- he'll fall in love with his perimeter shot once again. Crawford will get antsy and feel the need to shoot. Cannot trust them.

Al Bundy getting out-coached by his fellow rookie head coach.

Winner of game 5 in a 2-2 NBA playoff series wins the series 82.8% of the time. Sounds about right.

korver is killing this team, if he is not making his shots that need to be created by rose he is useless. korver is an absolute joke on the defensive end. thibs left korver in for much too long.

They really needed to make the substitution and bring Brewer in for his defense. It's obvious that Korver was having a bad night, and if the shot isn't falling, he just becomes a turnstile out there. They should have at least tried to make some offensive/defensive substitutions with the two, but that became extremely hard due to Thibs burning up all of his timeouts when there was about two and a half minutes left in the game. It would have been nice to get the win last night, but I'm still confident that the Bulls will get it done and win this series.

Boozer actually looked decent on the offensive end, and hopefully he can be serviceable the rest of this series. If he shows up, I think the Bulls win this in 6.

Did you watch any Knick games after the trade?

To get Melo the Bulls would've had to give up 3 of these 4 guys, and also picks:
Deng
Noah
Asik
Gibson

Their starting lineup after the trade would probably be:
Rose
Bogans
Melo
Boozer
Kurt Thomas (w/Scalabrine the backup)

Yikes

They would have easily lost in the first round, just like NY.

I see the point you're trying to make, but I think it also matters that the Knicks don't have a real NBA coach. With a real coach, Boston loses in the first round.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Melo as a part of the team. But the Bulls would have to gut a major part of the roster to acquire him. I just don't think it's worth it. New York isn't ever going to make a serious run with all the money they have tied up in Amare/Melo. I wouldn't be happy with a bunch of 4th/5th seeds for the next 5 seasons.

If they could just add him to the roster, yes.

But if they have to subtract many of the pieces that got them success all year, no.

I said nothing but "It would be nice to have Melo right now."

Regardless of what the Knicks gave up, it takes two stars to win in the league. The Bulls only have one.

So we could give up even more points?

Im not getting into a Carmello vs Deng debate.

Its a ridiculous argument IMO

This was Deng's best season and Carmello is more valuable by a mile.

I understand that you disagree. Thats cool.

I dont think they would have issues.

They might go from best in the league to like 10th best.

But the improvement in their offense would be greater than the loss on defense.
