NBC 5 Sports Guy that Mac once called "Tony".

Not good to be a black man doing sports on NBC 5.....(Darrian Chapman)

Hope there was no foul play.

Daryl Hawks, 38 and Darrian Chapman, 37.

If I was a young, black sports anchor - I would NEVER go work for NBC5.

Ryan Baker has an angel looking over him....

I guess. Baker is still alive, but works at CBS 2.

Way too young to leave this life. Hope the best for his family, especially his kids :(

The passing of Daryl Hawks comes 9 years after NBC5 said goodbye to another sports anchor/reporter, Darrian Chapman, also at a very early age. While Chapman died of a heart attack at only 37 years old preparing to play a pickup hockey game if memory serves at Johnny’s Icehouse with some friends of his in 2002, I’m not sure what happened to Hawks this morning in his Atlanta hotel room as he was preparing to report on tonight’s Game 6 of the Bulls/Hawks East Semifinal for the NBC Universal-owned station. Needless to say, both Chapman in 2002 and now Hawks died way too soon.

Man,this is shocking. I thought he did a fine job considering he was not a native Chicagoan.
I feel bad for his wife & kids. It's a shame.

I made fun of this guy hard when he did the Sunday night Bears show in 2008. I feel pretty bad now. :( 38! Man.

But he survived NBC5 before moving on.

I thought Hawkes was below average on TV, but his death is tragic.

I was very surprised to learn of Daryl Hawks' death this morning as he was getting ready to provide live reports from Atlanta before & after Game 6 of tonight's Bulls/Hawks' East Semifinal on NBC5. I was stunned to say the least. What immediately came to mind was what happened to another NBC5 sports anchor/reporter, Darrian Chapman, who died 9 years earlier. Both guys died way too soon, and both died before age 40.

So you are implying that Daryl Hawks was assassinated?

StoneRoses, I was surprised to learn that Daryl had been found dead this morning. I don't know what happened, let alone how. It'll be quite sometime before we know for sure.

It'll be quite sometime before a cause of death is revealed in how Daryl Hawks died this morning, but those close to the investigation believe foul play wasn't involved.

I find it very interesting that Lee Harvey Oswald said almost exactly the same thing after he was arrested at that Dallas movie theater. Just substitute "Kennedy" for "Daryl."

Call me crazy, but I think that you know quite a bit more than you are letting on. Where were you last night?

I was on Facebook and watching a little bit of the Heat/Celtics' game, briefly interrupted by thunderstorms in the area. I swear to God that I knew NOTHING about Daryl Hawks' sudden death this morning! NOTHING!

Whoa! Take it easy, Johnson! Why are you so defensive?

Shark, nobody is directly accusing you of being involved in any chicanery or shenanigans, as far as you are probably aware. After that whole John "The Otter" Forsythe incident, however, I have to be very exhaustive in my investigation. Do you have any eyewitnesses as to your whereabouts last evening? I just want to clear you right here and now. Help me to help you, Shark.
