Wellemeyer is starting for Iowa today in his first appearance of the year. I totally forgot this guy was around.

If they ever call someone up to pitch, the Cubs may have to look all the way down to AA. The Iowa pitching staff has been getting beat around all season. Ortiz had been decent until today, but has already allowed 7 runs. Every starter there has a plus 5 era with a few in the 8 and 9 range.

I sure hope Jackson was tossed from the game after being picked off 2nd base in the first inning following a hit and a stolen base because he was replaced to begin the 2nd inning. Hopefully he isn't hurt and was just showing some fire and passion.

He hurt his hand. He's on his way to Chicago to see a hand specialist. Fuck.

Dammit. Something has to be seriously jacked up with it for them to send him to the specialist already.

In a year. They do not send guys to the big league specialist that quickly unless things are very bad.

It's just Jackson's pinkie that has ligament damage. So, might be no long term effects

How many times can you re-attach the same finger?

That makes me picture that episode of Beavis and Butthead when Beavis cuts off his finger on the table saw and then gets it re-attached only to shove it up his nose and break it off again.

Jackson is on the DL....to bad we will probably never know the extent and type of injury as they are super cryptic about that stuff in the minors.

Cubs outfield prospect Brett Jackson has been placed on Double-A Tennessee's disabled list with a strained ligament in his left pinky. The good news is that he is expected to need only a few days to recover, but the Cubs wanted to give him a week just to be safe.

Excellent. The minor league DL is only 7 days too.

Now for the bad new.....Hendry still wants to package him and every other prospect for Michael Young.

Every day Hendry is the GM, the Cub is one day farther away from winning the World Series.

The world may honestly cease to exist before they ever win the series.

I realize he is old for a prospect and I realize he isn't even a prospect....but Montanez has 38 rbi's already. I think (since this is not a playoff team) you should give him a big league look. It can't hurt.

Jae-Hoon Ha has been promoted to AA.

Jae-Hoon Ha is doing just fine in Jackson's stead in AA. After his first 3 AA games he is batting .357 scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. This is great news as this kid wasn't really on the radar until they dealt those guys for Garza and his torrid start in Datyona. When Jackson returns, he can just go to AAA.

Flaherty is back up to .304 and Vitters is back to .250 after going down to the low .200's.

I don't like that McNutt was doing very well again and they pulled him after 3 innings and 50 pitches. Kid looks legit. Hope they were just limiting his amount of work and there was no injury.

McNutt, who started the season on the minor league DL, is in fact on a pitch count.

There are a few other guys down there that were never really projected as big prospects....but when you hit at AA you become a prospect.

Rebel Ridling: A (in a few days) 25 year old right handed batting first baseman who was drafted in the 24th round I believe. He is batting .330 with 7 bombs and 30 driven in. He has put up a pedestrian average and shown some power but he is on pace to have his best minor league season at his highest attempted minor league level.

DJ LeMahieu: He is kind of a Barneyeque prospect. He has matched his career high in home runs already this year be it though with 2. He has driven in 24 and has hit .350 so far. He has a decent frame at 6'4 that he could add some muscle to in order to get his hr numbers up to maybe 15.

Flaherty hit another bomb tonight. 9 and 40 rbi on the season now. Vitters went 3-4 to get his average up to .264. He is up to 23 RBI.

I have his baseball card from when he was drafted and I got it signed in AZ when he was at camp, which feels like 10 years ago! BECAUSE IT WAS! This guy was drafted in 2000! Either he can play or not, and now is when you play him!

Colvin is 1-8 so far with Iowa and that is not good. They have scored plenty of runs over both games and he really hasn't been part except for 1 hit and a sac fly.
