The idea is to win a WS. A SS with a .315 average and 40 errors every year...Not exactly a key to winning a WS.

He is not going to have 40 errors every year. He is still a kid, he will be fine in the field. This kid is a special talent. You do not go giving those away.

They should move him to 2nd for now. My point is nobody is untradeable. I am just sick of this constant bad baseball and Castro has been a big part of that in the field at least.

jimmy....take a deep breath....Hendry yes, Castro no.

How about Garza for prospects?

Edit: trades can only be made on the condition that Rick Hahn is the new GM

I agree. They should literally cut everybody on the roster and in the front office and start over. And Ricketts should be publically executed.

You mean like what was traded FOR him? The Cubs right now have too many "Jaques Jones" type hitters. Guys that specialize in groundball singles but never with a man on base. The CF,Byrd is the main culprit. Guys who are singles hitters should be able to steal a base once in awhile, not so with these guys.

jimmy is in mid-season meatball form. 102 years of losing does strange things to people.

I feel ya jimmy we all reach our breaking point with this team and will continue to do so until they get a cohesive vision for the future from upper management. Obviously I think all of us here agree that getting rid of Hendry is the first step in the healing process but it won't happen until the end of this season at the earliest.

The Cubs' offensive production hasn't been non-existent. It hasn't been very timely or efficient, but they do have some guys that can hit.

Pitching has been the issue.

So are you talking about 6 DIFFERENT Guys?
Statistics are for losers, hitting a useless double when your down 6-1 with 2 outs in the 9th don't mean shit. I think you know that already though.

Jimmy this might be more theraputic, Cub-wise: Some light reading with the game on the radio. When they start sucking, turn the radio off and dive into the reading.

They are way more offensive visually.

Wow,I am...Thanks for the education. The newspapers used to print this stuff daily not anymore. I don't seek it out either. I'm just a frustrated Cubs fan & venting.

The Cubs are 29th in stolen bases and 22nd in home runs. A station to station team that can't hit home runs doesn't work in the NL.

Pitching (half of a baseball game) is an issue. It's not the issue.
You've got different problems with pitching. One is that the guys like Dempster who were supposed to be good aren't and the next is the incredible lack of starting depth not just at the MLB level but that's going on in the whole system. The Cubs have decided that they simply didn't needsome of the relatively good starters they had. Gorz, Lilly and honestly I even miss frickin Silva at this point because he's better than the hot garbage that was out there today. You've got 2 starters, a solid closer, one middle relief guy and a bunch of mopes who are basically terrible at any given time, like Sharky (who will indeed suck again, I assure you) to the new Antonio Alphonseca (Mateo) or just bad (Grabow) That's a management problem.

So you've got a pitching problem and a management problem.

You don't think hitting has been a problem but I think your team stats are being skewed by a couple players who are excelling. The team is 2nd in BA but is 21st in runs. That's telling me you got guys who are hitting and getting on base but the guys who are supposed to be bringing them in aren't doing it. How long do I really gotta wait for Pena to heat up? What I said to my friend about Beckham goes for him too, which was by the time he heats up you're winning meaningless games because you're 10 or better games back at the ASB.

And let's just go ahead and get to the depth problem. Soto's hurt, so there go your chances on getting any type of production at all from that position. If Castro pulls a hammy what you got to replace that? And what happens to the team without him? That's also a Maagement problem.

You ask me, we knew going into spring training that we had a management problem. So yeah, to the guys giving the "ready to fire on May 12th?" yeah, fuck yeah, I'm ready to fire hendry May 12th. The sooner we can get someone in there who actually knows what the hell he's doing before 7/31 the better. Someone with some cojones please too.

If not then this wll be like the mid/late eighties all over again. You've got a couple stars but they aint gonna win a damn thing.

Well said except for the Silva part. Douchebag who had his pixie dust 8-0 start last year and IMO would have sucked big time this year. Plus, the team hated him.

I have a feeling Ricketts will see the writing on the wall with Hendry and the very good possiblity of shitty attendance down the line. He's going to lose the fanbase if he keeps him on.

This team is about a notch above Houston.

immessedup, I think he's referring to Hendry as the management problem.

You keep saying a management problem, but have not given me your reasoning behind it.

Quade has sat Peña numerous times for Baker, for instance. Once, for even a couple days in a row.

Is it Quade's fault Peña hasn't hit 10 HR yet? No. Has Quade sat Peña and moved him around in the order? Yes.

Better question:

Over the course of a full MLB season, will Carlos Peña outproduce Jeff Baker? Yes.

60% of that post was explaining the reasoning behind a management problem.
I'm not blaming Quade. Not really at all. Quade is a boob, don't mistake me, there's 29 better managers out there. He knows enough to site Penas dumb ass when he's approaching the .170 barrier.
The entire target of my post (guys who suck, no depth, poorly constructed bullpen, starting pitching trades) was Hendry. The general MANAGER.

I am still waiting for anyone in this forum to defend Hendry. I think just about every Cub fan that posts here wants the guy gone. This is an open call if anyone would like to step up and defend the guy here is your chance.

I disagree about Quade. So he moved Castro up & down in the lineup,Big Deal.
I still think he can be a great manager for the Cubs. He is a big improvement over Lou. He has managed more professional ballgames then most guys in the majors I bet.

VORM,your ass!

The White Sox: [They’re] doomed, brother. This ship may be at full sail now, but it’s sinking soon.
The Nationals: They’re freakin’ Expos without Youppi!, whose Value Over Replacement Mascot (VORM) is, like, 53.7. and
Youppi!: Youppi! is really the Tim Raines of mascots. When he was active, we all thought he was OK. Not great, not special. Just OK. But as soon as he left the game, all the sabermetric guys started raving about him
