Los Angeles The makers of top-rated TV comedy "Two and A Half Men" said on Monday they had ended actor Charlie Sheen's contract with the show.

"After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen's services on "Two and a Half Men" effective immediately," Warner Bros Television said in a statement.

Sheen is the highest paid actor on U.S. television and "Two and A Half Men" is the most popular comedy for network CBS which broadcasts the series.

But the remainder of the season was canceled in February after Sheen made a series of insulting remarks about producer and co-creator Chuck Lorre in radio and Internet interviews.

Sheen has since given a slew of rambling, sometimes manic interviews, despite insisting he is drug-free after a period of at home rehab in January.

A spokesman for Warner Bros. Television said on Monday that no decision had been made about the future of "Two and A Half Men". Sheen had a contract with the TV show that runs through to the end of the 2012 TV season.

You'd think they'd keep the show going, but with a replacement. Even if they only make half the money they were making before, it's still a gold mine...at least for awhile. I can't say I feel Charlie Sheen 'made' the show...

I'm not a fan of that type of comedy, but the writing and such was what made it successful.

I agree,5 guys on here could write a sex joke comedy. Seinfeld & King of Queens are good examples of being tasteful yet hilarious. As far as a replacement,Emelio Estevez ain't doing nothing. Now that would be funny.

Maybe they'll bring in Michael J Fox since Charlie replaced him on Spin City.

There have been rumblings & grumblings about John Stamos, best known as "Uncle Jesse" on the late '80s & early '90s sitcom "Full House", as a rumored replacement for Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men", should CBS decide in May to keep the top-rated sitcom. Stamos was spotted in New York over the weekend by TMZ cameras and he once again denied speculation that he'll replace the troubled actor.

As for Charlie's firing, I can't say I'm surprised. This is what happens when he continues to act like a first class jerk and continue to shoot his big mouth off.

In texts to The Associated Press after Warner's decision, Sheen dismissed his bosses with the F-word, saying "they lose" and calling them "trolls."

Charlie Sheen's trying to pick fights with a bunch of people these days. Chuck Lorre & Lee Aronsohn, the co-creators of "Two and a Half Men", along with ex-wives Brooke Mueller and Denise Richards, to name a few. At this stage, why would anyone be dumb enough to hire someone who is absolutely unstable and out of control as Charlie?

I think he's a horrible person. Some of the interview sound bites make me smirk, but I've been done with all this for some time now. He'll become less "funny" to everyone the next time he abuses a woman. That should be very soon, btw....he's due...

Dave Coulier is now in talks to replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men. Bob Saget thinks that's fucking horeshit.

So you don't think it's possible for "horrible people" to be entertaining?

Charlie Sheen continues to pick fights with a number of people. The latest person to be on the receiving end of Charlie's growing enemies list is his own "Two and a Half Men" co-star Jon Cryer. Feast your eyes on this:

Of course I do. I've enjoyed singers, actors, and ball players who by many accounts are bad people. I'm just not sure what Charlie Sheen is right now, in his current form. He's not acting, singing, sport.....ing. Maybe if he were doing some sort of stand-up act or something, I could find the entertainment value there. He's a broken down old junkie. The "funny" moment wore off after the first crazy interview I read. After that, I'm not sure what's going on, really. Anybody with a camera is giving him a chance to....talk about......stuff. And millions of people are waiting for him to die via twitter.

I just wonder if everybody is going to roll around on the floor laughing next time he shoots/punches/threatens/detains a woman...

Not sure what one has to do with the other.

You had a feeling this was coming. Charlie Sheen has indeed filed suit vs. "Two and a Half Men" co-creator Chuck Lorre and Warner Bros. Television. The link to the following TMZ.com story has the goods:

I like Ashton Kutcher and he was good on That 70's Show. I like the move for one last season.

CBS is said to be split right down the middle regarding the future of "Two and a Half Men", but Charlie Sheen himself isn't so sure that the former "That '70s Show" star can fill Charlie's big shoes...Check this out.

Nah, he is bad.

But the character is supposed to be a middle-aged Playboy...not some baby-faced jokester.

Yeah. He and the "half man" are like the same age now right?

I've never once watched this show. Only parts here and there. They seem to try way too hard...

It's my understanding that "Two and a Half Men" is still very much a ratings hit for CBS Monday nights, even though it's been airing reruns since Charlie's profanity-laced tirade towards his co-stars and creators Chuck Lorre & Lee Aronsohn. CBS Chairman Les Moonves wants the show to continue, but time's said to be running out on whether to move forward. The networks are thisclose to announcing their respective fall TV schedules, and if "Men" is officially over and out, CBS has a decision or two to make regarding that 8p Monday time slot and what to fill it with.

According to E! Online, Ashton Kutcher has indeed signed on as Charlie Sheen's replacement on "Two and a Half Men". Needless to say, even he admits his job won't be easy...

Yep. It'll be difficult for Ashton to play a rich, womanizing layabout.
