I think the Sox bullpen is in much more dire straights than the Cubs coaching staff.

I agree, but it's a little too soon to be shaking things up. The expectatations are so much higher on the South Side, so that makes decisions more closely analyzed.

Calling for a manager to be fired by tax day that has a .500 record managing a shitty team is a little crazy though. But I guess i'll just eat my bison dog and shut up....

Cuban knew that the old school MLB owners were against him owning a team & one of the reasons they were against him, besides the fact that he isn't a stuff shirt like the rest of these clowns, is that he has a ton of money & usually isn't afraid to spend it. Cuban was trying to convince the other owners that he would be frugal, since the last thing the other owners want is another guy who spends money like George.
I seriously doubt that Cuban would have been a passive complacent owner like Ricketts has been thus far.

exactly, he can't say i am going to outspend all you competing owners now green light my ownership approval. and if hendry was canned (which everyone agrees he should have been day 1) new gm would not sign pena or wood and this roster would look different but still same result..80 wins 3rd place..but the new gm would sell ricketts on getting the young players at bats and evaluate them at at seasons end. the money you saved on wood and pena goes to the prince fielder fund.

Keep clapping those hands you bald fuck. Fundamental baseball! What a joke this team is and the clown who "manages" it. I wanna hear from all you Quade ass lickers now that you see how poor this team is when it comes to fundamental baseball. An absolute disgrace. Give this guy, his whole coaching staff and Hendry the axe now.

this guy needs to make some bold moves or get the hell out of town! Sit Ramirez down for 2 straight games....sit dejesus down and go and manage / coach third base yourself ( other field managers have done this ...Larussa)....Sit Soriano....Let Marshall pitch more than an inning.,...

All this guy is doing is Skippering a sinking ship!

Since last years team,Quade has lost 4 decent starters: Gorzelany,Silva,Cashner & Wells. What would any manager do that could overcome the lousy GM and the injury bug combined?

Don't hold your breathe but yes, something bold needs to happen. But it won't. As for Ramirez, where is the power? No more PED's??

This is the worst fundamental team I can remember. That has everything to do with spring training and what the manager demands and has nothing to do with the loss of 4 decent starters. This guy should be managing in the bushes, not in the big leagues. I was shocked when they made him the interim manager and I am not at all surprised they are horrible this year. Ricketts/Hendry thinking this clown could get the job done was foolhardy at best.

That is no excuse for poor fundamentals... He appears to be a players manager.. that doesn't work, imo. Not with this group..

So if those 4 guys were on the Cubs roster right now, they would be 6 games under? I doubt it. The Cubs have sucked on fundamentals before Quade took over. Soriano & Aram don't give a shit,Castro is a 2nd basemen (or LF) playing SS. I think Byrd & Fuks are decent, but even Koy Hill has played defense like a teenager this year. He can't hit or field, but he is still on the Cubs.

That is what Spring Training is for. Pound it into the heads of these guys like Thibs has done with the Bulls. Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals, not hand clapping. Yell at these fucks and demand they do things right or there asses get sat down. That is why I wanted Sandberg. He epitomized how to play the game.

cpguy,
I'm an angry Cub meatball but I have been a lot calmer by not watching this crapfest. I still say it goes back to Hendry. I can't blame Quade for this sorry-ass group. I just wish they could unload at least some of this dead weight. Bring up the whole Iowa team,what...are they going to play worse?

Remember how Hendry justified keeping Quade when he said he liked how they played for him? Now after spring training, when Quade had a chance to put his mark on this team, they have become an absolute joke of a ballclub fundamentally. Sure makes Hendry look like what he is: a fucking idiot.

If you are not even watching the games, then you have no idea how bad this guy is at managing a pitching staff and managing in general. He belongs in A ball clapping his hands with the 18 year olds. As for Hendry, he needs to be gone now. His pick was Quade and they have regressed under Quade to the point where they are not even playing big league caliber ball. Both need axed tonight.

basses loaded multiple times....no runs. Ever heard of a squeeze? Try it damnit. Try something. That isn't pitching...thats managing. Dont bring in Mateo (ever really) but certainly not as a reliever for Zambrano who just gave up 5 or 6 straight hits. they are the same type of pitchers. That is POOR managing.

Hit and run....bunt and run. Nope. This team is lucky to catch anbd throw the ball. Fundamentals suck!

Some of Quade's moves have been head scratchers. A couple times this year Quade has left Dempster in games when it appeared to everyone that Dempster was thru. And bringing in Mateo as your first reliever in a tight ballgame against the division leaders was asinine.

And while the Cubs lack of fundamentals is not entirely the fault of Quade, it does reflect poorly on Quade. Wasn't he supposed to clean up this mess? And the fact that the Cubs had arguably one of the worst played games you can imagine a day after Quade had a closed door meeting is disturbing. Have the players tuned out Quade?

I am always wary when players campaign for a manager, as many Cubs did at the end of last year. Do the players really respect Quade? Is there any fear of him?

I heard a lot of platitudes about the fact that Quade is a players manager...such as Quade puts out the lineup a day in advance and how the players were appreciative. IMO, its time to take away the goodies.

Quade needs to crack the whip. This team does not appear to be a bunch of self motivators and it hasn't been for a few years. There are dogs on this team, Sorinao, Ramirez are a couple. The backbone of your team. Bench Ramirez and Soriano for a few games, put in Johnson and Baker, what do you have to lose.

One is guaranteed to make him untradeable. The other is the only shot you have to make teams possibly become interested.

C'mon,They don't have to play him. The lazy prick has been around for X number of years now. Everybody knows what they are getting. He would do fine as a DH on Oakland or some other AL Team. (I just picture him on Oakland)

Quade may not be the greatest manager ever but these are a lot of veterans making fundamental mistakes. How many veterans listen to the coaches talk fundamentals. Hell the rookies probably dont either. That is what a minor league system is for. He cant bench all of the underperforming veterans or he wouldnt be able to field a team. Hendry dealt the guy a pair of 3s and everyone is complaining that he isnt winning the hand. What the heck is he suppose to do with the crap he has on his roster???

What happened in Spring Training exactly? Two starters hurt in their first starts, players missing signs the first weeks of the season, players only meetings... What the hell was Quade up to? The team has been unprepared and bad all season long.

It was the first spring training that he ever ran. Hopefully he learned from it and realized what he needs to do. It doesnt help that the team is full of rookies and veterans that dont give a shit.

The mix of players on this team is terrible. Quade probably isn't a very good manager but Zombie Connie Mack could come back from the dead and this team would still be making stupid plays and not executing. Everyone calm down and look on the bright side. Soriano is still signed here unitl he is 39 years old

What?

No team will pickup the remainder of Ramirez's 2011 contract if he is being benched 3 times a week by Quade.

Bullshit.
A team looking for a cheap power hitting DH would LOVE HIM regardless of if he is benched or not.
I guarantee it. They pay 2 months worth of salary or none of it in the trade if the Cubs get a coupla lame low level players to be named.

Yeah Cheap. At the trade deadline, he's only got 2 months of gamechecks coming in. And I'm sure the Cubs would eat some of it. They tend to trade with stupidity. Yeah, he'd be a nice cheap 2 month rental and the Cubs might get a prospect out of it and a bad apple off the infield.
