15 day disabled list (replaced with righty relief pitcher Justin Berg) with "multiple facial fractures". He's gone for a lot more than 15 days if you ask me.
So your lone all star from last year is gone for a while. This team blows.
Time to start selling!

Berg??? fucking christ

This is an opportunity to bring up some people that don't suck....but dickbag hendry can't figure that out.

Right, so with a starting outfielder down for a while, why not move Fuk to center and let Colvin play every day for the 12 weeks or so that Byrd is gonna be gone?
I am befuckingfuddled by this team.

This means more action for Reed Mantle and possibly the white gangsta.

That is exactly what I was about to type. Get Fuk to center and give Colvin a shot as the everyday RF for awhile. But of course they won't do that now.

Has the lineup for tonight been posted yet? What are we looking at, Reed in center?

what is befuddling? did you think they were going to be good? they let colvin start for a couple weeks early in the year and he was horrible. they have had him hitting off the bench since, and he has been equally horrible. even when he was "good" last year he was a .250 hitter and a strikeout machine. im sure he will get more at-bats now, but i dont get the rage about him getting at-bats. just being young doesnt entitle him to at-bats. he looks like shit out there. id rather have johnson out there hitting the ball than watch colvin up there slashing away.

Well, like, that's your opinion man. I'd like to see the kid get 4 weeks of starts. Who fuckin cares about Reed Johnson? The Cubs have no fucking potential for competing seriously this year. So let the dude get some ABs at this level.

Reed Johnson should be a 4th outfielder on a really good team. He's the best at that.

I hate the situation the cubs are in right now.

I hate Jim Hendry and I hate the fact that he still has a job when ever fucking person in the world other than Ricketts knows he is a joke and should have been fired years ago. I hate the fact that he has anything to do with some of the untainted players in the minor leagues.

im no huge fan of reed johnson, nor a detractor of tyler colvin. if colvin gets all of those at-bats now that byrd is gone, good for him. i still dont understand what has been befuddling about this season. they have been a poor team. surprise!

i hope somehow colvin and the coaches helping him have found a cure for the 2' x 2' hole in his swing.

They needed Berg for the bullpen given the Garza scratch. We'llsee what they do but may as well get Colvin some AB's until Brett Jackson is ready.

Colvin needs to get his shit together in AAA. If he does that then I will welcome him back because he had some legit power last year from the left side that could prove useful in the future. In the meantime....the second Fuk fades I want Adduci or Flaherty called up. Jackson would be ideal but he is hurt.

I love the thread title.

Best wishes to Byrd and his eye.

He still isn't all that good though. And how about Garza's elbow being in a bit of a tizzy? And Pena being a complete fucking waste?

I hope Ricketts has a strong gut and a pair of heavy hitting testicles....he's going to have to gird them for the long and arduous fight ahead.

for me, i look to this trade deadline as the official beginning of the end of ricketts honeymoon. mr. hendry should be working already towards trading any and all veteran pieces as he can for any prospects or young talent he can (realizing of course that most of the pieces of this team that were once considered "valuable" are now in decline, have bad contracts, and have no-trade clauses). once this season is over and the off-season begins, that is when we should all see which this team is headed. if this team bears even a moderate resemblance to this team, i will join the cubs-bashing. this is when the overhaul should just about be getting ready to take place.

If Colvin can't get things straightened out, the Cubs will have taken a substancial step backwards. They need to have Colvin, as well as Soto, Castro and Barney playing major roles in the teams future. If it's not Colvin, then Brett Jackson should get the opportunity. He's the guy they project as the CF of the future.

I think some of the other minor league guys just need a chance. I do not think they every planned on Barney being a legit big league player but he got a chance and has thrived.

No one thought that Tyler Colvin was going to be a 'substantial' piece to a championship team.

That Marlon Byrd hit by pitch Saturday night was frightening to watch in real time. "MLB on FOX" cameras showed Red Sox 3B Kevin Youkilis' reaction right away. Kevin couldn't bear to watch seeing Marlon lay on the ground after getting hit in the face. Byrd was still in a Boston hospital at last check...
