Could Michael Strahan be trading in his seat sandwiched in between Howie Long & Jimmy Johnson on "FOX NFL Sunday" in Los Angeles for a seat alongside Kelly Ripa on "Live" in New York City? According to the New York Post, the former Giants' defensive tackle is actually on the short list to succeed the retiring Regis Philbin on the nationally syndicated "Live" this fall.

Philbin raised a lot of eyebrows last January when he told his audience that he's planning to retire as host of the celebrity gabfest that was first syndicated in 1988 with former co-host Kathie Lee Gifford and with Kelly since 2001. Although Regis may now have second thoughts about such plans, producers of "Live" have been trying out different co-hosts behind the scenes for quite sometime. It's believed that Regis will call it a career in late summer.

That leads me to Strahan. Yesterday, he called into "The Dan Patrick Show" and expressed his aspirations filling Regis' big shoes. Needless to say, Strahan is "serious" about succeeding an icon in Philbin. Strahan said that "it's one of those spontaneous-type jobs. You have to be quick on your feet and witty and fun and keep up with the culture..."

While Strahan will get his chance within the next month, he does have competition for the gig. "Extra" host Mario Lopez, former "Access Hollywood" weekend host Tony Potts, ABC News "20/20" host Chris Cuomo and Ripa's own husband, actor Mark Conseulos, are among the candidates in the running for Philbin's seat. In Chicago, "Live" airs at 9a weekdays on WGN's CW9.

sounds brilliant to be honest. strahan has the personality for it, hes smart enough for it, and a LOT of women want to fuck him. perfect for that show.

They should pick Mark Consuelos because, when I get to watch the show, I don't hear enough about their family.
