Please edit that and take it out. There will be plenty of time to discuss that. I know you prefaced it with spoiler but someone may not realize what they are about to read and that would be a major dick move.

Or you could just wait to discuss it when it happens. No need to rush that one -plenty of other things to talk about in the mean time. Like why they still haven't played up the direwolves which are a major piece of the overall story!!!! Bran should have had Summer with him while riding - that pissed me off.

Its also integral to the 3 eyed crow dreams but I have no idea how a non-reader would be able to put that together.

Same with Beric Dondarrion - I don't remember him being introduced before then and all of a sudden Ned picks him to bring the Mountain to justice? That scene should have been done alot better including more characters. Specific characters.

The "hunt" scene was a joke. And the portrayal of Renly as a little bitch is all wrong. Oh and hey maybe mention your other brother Stannis by name???

For as many good things they did this episode - Dany and the horse heart, the crowning - they completely fucked up just as many.

Its hard to really express too much more and be spoilerfree at this point. I'll hold my remaining issues until the series ends.

Except for STILL NO BLACKFISH!!! Criminal.

So, even after watching the entire first season...I should still get the first novel, right?

The only time Dondarrion was mention in the books was during the Hand's Tourney. They didnt have time to go through all that so they threw him in at the most crucial juncture for him. Blackfish will be introduced when Catelyn leaves the Eyrie, he has to be. I dont know why they are making Renly so lame...

That bothered me too Hank. In the books, he's gotten hordes of followers and is charismatic.
He's been a lame pussy on the show in my opinion.

The whole tourney scene looked waaaaay low budget. I imagined it much bigger. I also imagined Loras like you guys were saying... lots of fans cheering. The Renly character is all wrong... and not because I'm homophobic or anything... just wrong.

But to jackref's point before, I think we all knew that they would need to sacrifice ALOT in order to get this on TV. Overall, I'm pleased with what they decided to sacrifice. I'm a little surprised you were such a big fan of the Blackfish. We haven't really gotten to the Tully family yet. I assume that's after all hell breaks loose. I am a really big fan of the Hound story line. Can't wait until you get more of him and Arya.

So far they havent cut anything out that really bothers me. The things they have added unnecessarily is what is bothering me. Loras is supposed to be one of the greatest knights in the kingdom and he looks like he couldnt defeat the Imp in combat. Not to jump too far ahead but I dont see how Renly will be able to do what he does in the second book being such a lame ass.

The jousting scene looked like they borrowed the exact set from 'First Knight" (w/ Sean Connery and Heath Ledger)

I think you are combining your knight movies. Heath Ledger was in 'A Knights Tale'.

The Blackfish is my favorite character in the books and is instrumental going forward. A character like that needs to be introduced and built up properly.

And totally agree with Hank on what they are "adding" to Renly's character. Besides the lack of Direwolves its my second biggest peeve.

he is your favorite? I mean he is pretty cool, but far from my favorite. I would have to go with the Imp as my favorite. The casting in the series bothered me at first but I have gotten over it now. That guy playing Tyrion is freaking great, he has been the best so far in portraying their character.

I agree Hank. Tyrion has been my favorite character throughout the books and series.

Peter Dinklage has been brilliant.

yeah as i had said... :P

i was just thinking of this today, just how impressed i've been with peter dinklage as tyrion. here we have an improbable casting; i think most/all of us who have read the book(s) envisioned someone completely different. but dinklage has owned this role, and he's made him a very strong character. i really hope he gets some recognition for this. not just because he's a dwarf actor but because it's one of the more impressive acting jobs i've seen lately.

his eyes and expressions are what makes him so impressive. he can really drink in a scene with his eyes.

also, i now have converted to imagining dinklage AS tyrion as i'm reading "clash of kings". normally i have already got a vision of a character, and most of them are fairly close to what are in the show...i didn't want to at first but i can't help it. that's how good dinklage has been.

anyway that was just what i was thinking about. this show has far exceeded my expectations thus far. i was wrong that i thought it would be drab. it's excellent. spending an afternoon learning and recording the theme is a small example of how much i've enjoyed it. :)

i'll most likely finish "clash" tonight.

i kept trying to think of who blackfish was because he was nonexistent in "clash"...but there's an ice and fire wiki and saw that it's Brynden Tully, who I vaguely recall from the first book.

My favorite characters are Tyrion, Jon Snow, and Arya. I've grown to like Sansa better, and I dig the Hound a lot.

Some part of me feels something for Theon, too. He's kind of a tragic figure. For those just watching the show, he's not really developed yet. But in "Clash" he is more prominent. His sister's a total bitch.

Yeah, Theon is a complicated character. You want to think he is just an arrogant dick but there is more going on there. It is hard to discuss in detail because everyone is at different parts of the story.

The Blackfish is more prominent in Storm of Swords but still central to Clash albeit "off screen". I guess I dont' want to get into why he is my favorite at this point to prevent spoilers :)

But yes Tyrion and Hound are top 5 also. The Hound is an amazingly complex character that is extremely well written and developed.

Theon is a dbag of the highest order :P

I thought so for a while but I have relaxed my stance about him. He had a pretty strange upbringing.

He did - but he thinks he is smarter than he is. He isn't and hence his problems.

Dammit - we need a GoT outing to discuss such things!! Its hard to hold stuff back and prevent spoilage.

Another great episode. Every new episode has more and more momentum now, the pieces were set in the first few, and still great, shows and now shit is moving very ,very fast. Great dialogue/dialog(?) in most scenes....especially, as WZ said, in the brothel scene with that rat fuck Petyr. Great stuff.

Throughout the the series and esp. the latest show I kept feeling that Stark is/was going to be left high and dry because of his refusal to get his hands "dirty" to influence events. The scene with Renly where Renly is pleading with Ned to do what is necessary and separate that gay Joeffry from Cersei was really well done and very telling. I remember yelling at the TV "LISTEN TO HIM ASSHOLE" but Ned kept wanting to do what is "right" and get Stenis all the while those sinister Lannisters are making moves at light speed behind the scenes.....and it was all driven home in the final few minutes.

Great episode as usual. Ned's sense of honor just causes problems, you can't be honorable when fighting against vermin.
